This cd does grow on you.Eat Me Alive is what i consider a Priest Love song. There are some women out there who hear Priest lyrics and music and totally relate from a female perspective. it really is great to listen to when I work out as well or have project that requires adrenaline. The "death combo" is out of place I agree. As is Riding with the Wind. I rearranged them myself more to my liking. I do like the Nostradamus song a lot. I have been having a hard time locating it. What about anyone else? |

Hey, Screamin' Demon!!
I know this is a little off-topic, but can you add me as a friend? I would like to PM you on something regarding the Nostradamus album. Don't worry...I won't bite. |

Would anybody like to see a bonus tracks rerelease of A Touch Of Evil Live with some tracks taken off the upcoming DVD? At least all the evil ones like Rapid Fire, Hell Patrol & Freewheel Burning. That would make the CD more like...
Judas Rising
Hellrider
Between The Hammer And The Anvil
Riding On The Wind
Hell Patrol (Bonus Track)
Death
Rapid Fire (Bonus Track)
Beyond The Realms Of Death
Dissident Aggressor
A Touch Of Evil
Eat Me Alive
Prophecy
Freewheel Burning (Bonus Track)
Painkiller
I'd buy it for sure. There is a lack of musical transition between ROTW and Death as well as Death and BTROD. FB would also be cool to put in between Prophecy and Painkiller to raise the tempo. |

Oooh I agree with you about Eat Me Alive, Joe! Ferocious drums indeed! Craig downloaded that along with Dissident Aggressor and Prophecy on rockband LOL so crazy trying to play those on that game, they'd be mental playing properly! I'll settle for teaching myself Living After Midnight for now LMAO! IMO: It appears from first listen of the tracks that were not from RITE, they have been touched up (overdubs) in the studio and the usual audience being piped in. Pretty typical as Priest of course did Unleashed in the Studio in 1979, so they know how to redo it.

Really like the new live album. I thought the idea of individual songs rather than a full gig would suck, but I actually quite like it. Totally agree that Painkiller is vocally weak [ although I hate to say that, and no disrespect intended]. Tracks I head to first are Hellrider , which I never liked before - especially love the drums coming in at the start and the last note, Hammer and the Anvil, and Eat me Alive. I think Touch Of Evil the song is passable, but the version from the Valencia DVD would have been better though it is older. I've never liked Death much, but its probably better in the live version, I probably would have dropped that, Painkiller and Touh of Evil, and added Hell Patrol and Devils Child, maybe Angel. Its got a nice rich sound thanks to Mr. Allom, and I hope they use him for the next studio album. Great photo of the full stage, in which Rob appears to be laughing - and Ian doesn't appear at all [ but hes like that!] |

Ummmm....
I actually didn't think of that! But now that I think about it, it looks as if they did that on purpose, as the two are right next to each other. I hate to sound like an ungrateful fan, but it seems that it'd be real bitchen to play a mini suite off of Nostradamus like Sands of Time/Persecution instead of Death or Prophecy like they're playing now. The build up from Sands to Persecution would be a real killer way to start a show, as opposed to Death, which just seems anti-climatic in a way (to my ears)... Prophecy being played live now-eh...not my favorite, and practically everyone I've talked to thought the chorus was pretty hilarious at first listen. I'm "biased" here, as Persecution is probably one of my favorite Priest songs ever, even if I can't sing along to half of it, LOL! It's just so freaking strong. This live album is growing on me though, most likely the "high" I got off of seeing Priest recently.

I respect the fact he screamed it in the first place, I really don't expect it to sound as good as the recorded version.
If any of you think you can do it, lock yourself in a room and sing/scream that song about 20 times at the top of your lungs, on key! and see if you have ANY voice left whatsoever.

The only song off Touch of Evil I don't really like is Painkiller. That song is screamed not sang, and must be screamed on pitch. Was probably difficult for Rob to do when originally recorded, and now, well it must be a voice killer!
I respect the fact he screamed it in the first place, I really don't expect it to sound as good as the recorded version.
If any of you think you can do it, lock yourself in a room and sing/scream that song about 20 times at the top of your lungs, on key! and see if you have ANY voice left whatsoever.

As a "Die Hard Fan"I would like to know where the live versions of the songs from "A Touch Of Evil Live" were recorded (which Cities?)? Every song please, because there is no information about it. Thanks! |

Overall I'd have to agree with you. It's got some great moments, but it is patchy in parts. I think Dissident Aggressor rocks as does Hammer And The Anvil. Not keen on the version of Painkiller or Riding On The Wind. And you are bang on about the difference in Rob's voice in 2005 and 2008 . It was the first thing I thought on seeing them last year on how much stronger Rob was vocally. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Screamin' Demon from Sunday, July 12, 2009 1:28:28 AM) | | Screamin' Demon wrote: | | I just bought and listened to A Touch Of Evil Live. After taking a full listen, my response to it is going to be bittersweet. The quality of the recordings is superb and nothing less than Priest's standards. Though, there is a huge difference in sound in songs from 2005 & 2008. The ultimate disappointment is the fact that 6 of the 11 songs are just touched-up versions from Rising In The East on which Rob sounded tired, strained and unable to grasp that mid-range growl. Listening to the new songs really shows how refreshed the band is since they hit the road in June last year. Between The Hammer And The Anvil, Death, Dissident Aggressor, Eat Me Alive and Prophecy all show a revitalised and a hungry Judas Priest. Death in particular raises my hairs. Rob has truly come back a hero on this Priest Feast tour and is now an unstoppable leather clad brute. The tracklisting however is too short and too many mindblowing tracks like Hell Patrol and Sinner feel sorely missed. The album is worth a buy, but overall nothing special. I find myself preferring to listen to fan filmed footage on youtube than to listen to the album. My rating 6.5/10 Edited at: Sunday, July 12, 2009 1:51:50 AM |

I find the song Riding On The Wind completely out of place on this CD. The album's title suggests evil songs. Riding On The Wind is the only one that isn't. Hell Patrol would have done a perfect job.
