In my head the song means that we metal fans are looked upon as crap by so many people, and the song says, we don't care, were strong in numbers, so just leave us alone ... But thats just my understanding of it ... And I agree :o)

I'm not sure if it means to me, a wanting to be left alone, as much as it is being made to feel alone. I think the desire to be accepted is what I get from it...

I would say that ALONE has three meanings:
#1 Nostradamus - his life
#2 Heavy Metal Fans - The life Style
#3 Gay / Homosexual lifestyle - being isolated
It makes sense this way.
It is the Trifecta meaning of the song - of the wanting to be left ALONE |

| Now see thats what i thought too, I had no idea Halford related Nostradamus's struggle to Metal. Thats pretty wicked! First listening to the album Exhiled and Alone were the two songs that stuck out above all, probably the rough patch i was going through then, but Alone just seemed to be speaking for all of us. I just was curious if any one else felt that this was a song... well all about us. |

| Alone is most definitely a metal anthem! Arguably one for the ages! While the song refers to JP's interpretation of a period in Nostradamus' life, lyrically, it calls to metal fans everywhere and says what we have all thought at one time or another. |
