It would be cool if JP decide to do a 3-5 min. long instrumental (actually, it just might be downright awesome!), but I prefer the brief intros and outros, like "The Hellion", Battle Hymn", "Prelude" and many others. The fact that JP creates these snippets of music makes them unique from say, Metallica, Iron Maiden, or several others that have these full-blown instrumentals. In addition, at least with the intros, I'll know that Rob will begin to sing very soon. Can't have JP without Rob, you know.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:  I never said I wanted an instrumental album, just a single song.  Where are you people getting instrumental album from???

I think they can do some instrumentals (but not a full blown album) like The Hellion for example. Hail the Metal Gods!

There is something magical that happens when Glenn and KK play in harmony. I would love to listen to some instrumentals, but not an entire albums worth. I would miss singing along to Rob way too much (if you can call what I sound like singing, LOL!). Whether Rob is singing or not though, I always know it's a Priest song because NO ONE plays like Glenn or KK.

Ur right ...Without Rob singin,..only instrumental??.it would not be Judas Priest....maybe just one song on the album..but not more..

Must they go instrumental , I would realy miss Rob's voice. It just wouldn't be the same. A solo part in a song is great but no singing at all ..... I don't know

No, Judas Priest is not Iron Maiden. And I prefer their more economic style too.  And if they wrote an instrumental it would sound like a PRIEST instrumental.  There's no reason they shouldn't do one.  There's so much potential by the idea!  I encourage you to be open to it.  I wouldn't dismiss it till you've heard it.

Let them do one, and if it bombs, it bombs.  But at least they will have TRIED.  Priest has misfired a few times, but at least they are not afraid to explore new territory.  Isn't that a good thing?

Give it a fair chance.  Their instrumental intros like "Prelude" and "The Hellion" still sound like quinessential Priest despite Rob's absence from those short pieces, no?  There's no reason to think it wouldn't be Priest just because Rob doesn't sing on one track.  In fact, it would only help add more variety to the album!  Variety is what Priest albums are made of.

Priest are not Iron Maiden. Sometimes Iron Maiden's instrumentals seem to go on forever too. I like the band, but I like Priest's less egocentric approach much better.

Iron Maiden put instrumentals on their albums; their inclusion didn't take anything away from Paul or Bruce.  If Iron Maiden can do it, why not Priest?

An instrumental or two would be cool to have (Downing and Tipton can come up with some truly wonderful guitar melodies, and they sur eknow how to shred)...but it's not Priest without the vocal madness....with no disrespect to Owens, i do mean more specifically the HALFORD vocal madness.

I don't forsee a full blown on instrumental ever coming forth from the band, let alone played in concert.

They can do whatever they want, they are sensational musicians and their creativity flows.
Hail the Metal Gods!!!

I don't think Priest should do a full blown instrumental.  What the hell would Rob do?  If I'm at a Priest show, I want to hear Rob sing!  If I want to hear an instrumental, I'll go see Metallica.

I`m sure they could come up with something great, as usual. They`ve created fantastic intros. Just listen to the beautiful and delicate instrumental interludes in Nostradamus.

I am kinda surprised, i never realized that. Totally with you, they have the potential to write something mega-epic, it s definitely a good idea
[metalbaatar] Sunday, May 03, 2009 2:49:11 AM
It has recently occurred to me that Judas Priest has never written a proper instrumental, other than intros and outros. Who would like to hear Judas Priest do a true instrumental on their next album? I bet it would be fantastic!

Priest, if you’re reading this, please consider doing an instrumental on your next album.

Who’s with me?
