| Anyone here ever get the opportunity to try the Uber Metal Distortion by Line 6 ? I heard demos of it.I'm curious to try it myself and maybe buy one.Correct me If I'm wrong I think it has a bulit in noise gate.Lots of high gain on it. What I heard through the demos of it sounded really good but I guess I'd have to try it for myself. I have a Danelectro fab tone that I quite like.There Pedals aren't that expensive and for what they cost they have a pretty descent sound but I guess that's just all a matter of personal taste and opinion because I know it's like comparing apples to oranges I suppose.Some guys will tell you" This Pedal or this amp is crap !" while others will tell you the oppossite and praise it up and down. Anyhow just wondering if any of you guys tried the Uber Metal.Would like to hear your opinions on this product. Cheers!.. |

Rich (Rave II, Warlock (inc. prototypes & custom)), Washburns (Steve Stevens & BT4), ESP LTD M100 (NEVER again!), Vintage S.G., Aslin Dane S.G., Keiper power-strat, Tempest 'Charlie' (Neck-Thru Jap thing). Amp wise = Watson, Gorilla, Hohner, Laney, Several Marshalls (last was 5010), FX - Zoom GFX707 (I & II), Digitech RP200 (UGH!), and my fave DODTEC4X - had ALL the tones i needed and plays well live. Swear by Jim Dunlop 2.0 Big Stubby picks. D'Addario EXL120+ strings. Tune straight or C#. (Think that covers it). |

I haven't heard of the lady from Austrailia that you mention. I remember guitar world had a contest to see who was the best shredder and Glen and KK were judging it and the winner got a hamer v autographed by Glen and KK and a Mike Aemott signature head and stack by Randall. I wouldn't enter it because quite frankly I suck *LOL* even after a little over 20 yrs of playing. That's cool thoe for the winner to get a Guitar autographed by Glen and KK. I would love to have them scribble on my Axe or even play it.

Actually I've heard some good stuff about the line 6. Don't know how good there onboard effects are.I nearly came close to purchasing one before I got my marshall.

Strings back then(late 80`s early 90`s) were GHS boomers, now going with Ernie Ball Slinkies
Always used .009-.042 gauge and only tune down a half step.

it`s better to process your distortion than to distort your processing. plus you can boost the level in the loop to help make the guitar seem much more touch sensitive and(if using a tube amp) drive the post harder.
Most onboard efx are only middle of the road as tey are digital, but using something that small to do so many things, the processing power suffers , giving not quite what you want. But either way, still plenty good for home use.

It is best to always put an overdrive/distortion pedal in front of an amp . This way any efx you have in the loop can do their jobs better.Or just put them after the OD/Dist. in the chain.
remember this little phrase
it`s better to process your distortion than to distort your processing. plus you can boost the level in the loop to help make the guitar seem much more touch sensitive and(if using a tube amp) drive the post harder.
Most onboard efx are only middle of the road as tey are digital, but using something that small to do so many things, the processing power suffers , giving not quite what you want. But either way, still plenty good for home use.

| USe a little chorus with the distrotion for the rythym chanel. THe Boss digital Delay is great for soloing. switching the reverb on works. |
