I can't wait to play Skyrim either. I have an offer to any female gamer on this site who owns a PS3. I am looking for some new PSN friends who are female who also like metal music. So, if there are any female PSN gamers out there, feel free to add and message me on there. My tag is mkadragonslayer

Is anyone else waiting for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? Ive just watched a demo on youtube, and it looks amazing.
I just hope they wont continue the tradition of reducing the world size in every new game.

Yeah, you can install most flavors of Linux on a PS3 with that firmware. DON'T upgrade if you ever want to give it a shot. Sony disabled the function with firmware 3.21.
A bit complicated but I'd give Yellow Dog Linux a shot. Save yourself a headache and burn an iso to CD/DVD instead of downloading and compiling the kernel itself. All info is here:
i own a ps3 that still has firmware 3.15 and the 'install otherOS' feature. does anybody know anything about this? i know it can somehow run linux.

The apps - I plan on running Photoshop, Illustrator, possibly Corel Draw a lot (maybe Adobe Flash later on, if we ever go as far as animation in the classes).
Now, the motherboard - Im not sure how that translates, but I have a hunch that it might be "Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2,66 GHz".
Thanks!

Hey, Strat. Good to see you.
Not heavy into games, you can get away with all you describe. You didn't name the motherboard and, as a general rule, more RAM is always better. 4 GB looks good. Can you expand if you needed more? THAT is where I would be looking. You are really fine if you just want to run daily apps, though. No worries there.
HD is always the least of worries. External USB or Firewire drives more than make up for smaller harddrives. If not into gaming, you COULD get away with a lesser video card. While I have a couple of ATI cards upstairs and in my office computer (and one at my feet!), I still prefer GeForce cards. Then again, I am a PC gamer. Again, more memory on the card is always a + but not necessary if you are just running basic apps.
Good build, says I. Nice to see you again.

Now, Im not sure if this is the right thread, but it seems to be roughly it, so heres my question to anyone that is up to date with computerish things:
Im buying a new computer. Ive been looking around a bit, and Ive got a few questions. First: the RAM. The best Ive found so far (in a pre-assembled computer) is 4GB. Is that a lot, or would 3 or 2 be enough for a computer that will probably be used for work first, and not too demanding games second?
Second, the graphics card. The package that Ive been looking at comes with an ATI HD4870 512MB GDDR5 - now, is that ok, not enough, or just right for what I described above? (If its too much then Im definately looking for something cheaper - half the price seems to be the graphics card)
The hard drive is 750GB, which to me (Ive had this same computer for many, MANY years now) seems like Sci-Fi. Personaly Id be content with half as much, tho Im not sure how that goes today.
Thanks for the answers!

Sure does help!
I guess I will look around a bit more, but then again, yeah, the price is great, leaves me enough to go wild with the monitor, and get a decent printer as well... So thanks again!
That is actually the "chip." The motherboard is where you plug in the chip / RAM, etc.
In any case, you are looking good there, bro. That Intel chip leads me to believe that you are maxed out at 4GB on the motherboard. If the price is right, you'll be happy. Go for it.
Hope this helps.

I like MMORPGs but WoW just was too much really. So I am a recovering addict really, though my labtop breaking was showing me that yeah I needed to stop. Fortunately I canceled my account before that but now that I am trying to raise money to get another one I am looking forward to Star Trek: Online. It's coming out sometime early next year and it looks better and better with every update.

I got Brutal Legend and its tight~ I'm going to pick up Smackdown Vs Raw 2010 next for PS3. I am curious does anyone know whether or not you can upload highlight reels straight to youtube? I read on wikipedia that you could and I heard it from someone on youtube. I also heard that custom entrance music is useable online. Can someone please pm me and let me know what's up? Oh and if anyone wants to add me as a friend male or female just pm me and I'll give you the pertnant info you need to add me on PSN. Oh just so you know I only add users 18 and over for the most part.

Just got the PS3 slim. could not pass up the $299 deal. I bought Uncharted Drakes Fortune. It's OK but you have to kill like 10,000 enemies

Just got this for the 360. Sweet stuff! Loved the beginning of the series and even Return to Castle Wolfenstein and this continues to be awesome!!

theres no point in me getting a 360 cuz i don't get online so i'm better off with the ps3 lol
Wow here's someone I haven't seen in a long time (though I was gone for a while myself). I got Guitar Hero Metallica for my Xbox 360 and love it. I have also been trying out Street Fighter 4, Red Faction Guerilla, Resident Evil 5, and all sorts of good stuff. Recently I have actually getting back to Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. (Though I prefer the computer version myself but my labtop is broken.) Can't wait for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 though and Assassin's Creed II.

"Brutal Legend" Really?!!!, that`s cool. The other day I was thinking it would be great to have Judas Priest in a video game and now it`s going to happen!
That is the new videogame coming out that had Priest in the background. Jack Black does the voiceover. Looked kinda cool, actually. Due out in 2009.
