Yeah, I'm jealous.
I remember watching it on TV. (All 3 songs that were aired.)
Waited and watched half the day only to see three songs. A bit disappointed but still happy
just to see them on TV.(I believe my first time)

all im saying is I WAS THERE! that day and the dvd is as good as the day i remember itself. the band was on fire for sure. pretty good setlist for the day, not to mention it was 100 deg that day. Priest easily stolethe show that day over Ozzy & Scorps.

Thanks Eternal Betrayer - it does look awfully good - much, much better than the footage I've seen of Van Halen at the US Festival. I wonder if they've been able to remix the sound.
[Eternal Betrayer] Monday, July 30, 2012 5:33:33 PM

I'm presuming that people may now have seen these already, and I apologise too, if they've already been posted elsewhere... but, just in case... here are clips of "Electric Eye" & "Screaming For Vengeance" from the US Festival '83.

And jolly good they are as well.

I like that idea, Nupe, although a 40th anniversary re-release would be a much better anniversary for Stained Class, IMO. Seems as though the band/management/recording company is looking for that magic number zero in the tens place. Who knows if the band will still be active 6 years from now, but you never know.

just read the details on the front page - very happy to be proved wrong
I like the new cover too

JP probably were at their peak at the US festival - but Scott Travis wasn't in the band then

the idea for a Stained Class re-release is cool too

I just got a weird idea. Next year, there could be a 35th Anniversary release of Stained Class. And it's bonus material could be a full, remastered version of the Tokyo '78 video you can only find as a relatively poor-quality bootleg at the moment.

It's certainly quite the long shot, but hey if they just managed to release a DVD no-one even knew was available for a release in the first place, we can always hope, yes?

While I know you did not reply to me there, I was only joking about the disputes of the past. To me and all of us they are the past and why rehash. We all know you feel Priest was at their prime some time in the past. Some of us still enjoy them just the way they are. Including Sans KK.(oops did I say that?)

There is really no point to argue as it it each fan's opinion. I was there in the 80's and I will tell you my favorite tour was Defenders of the Faith to this day! I could not have had a better view. The stage barrier broke and I was thrown against the stage. I stood at KK's feet all night. It's a view anyone would kill for and I lucked into it by being smashed. lol  Fantastic show.  I'll never see another show like that. Did Rob sound as good as he did last time I saw them on this tour? NO. He was not participating in the audience like he did in later years and was not trying to hit the marks, he seemed lazy. The one person I wanted to be engaged with the crowd was not at all.  I could not even get his attention as close as I was to give him a portrait I'd made of him. That close, and I could not even get a glimpse from him.

I'll take the Priest I saw last year. They were there, they were rockin', and they were interactive. Enjoyed it almost as much as the night I was thrown against a stage and stood at their feet.

All I got to say bout  it. Hope you understand where I'm coming from.

Vail, I was just injecting a little sarcasm into a comment to point out how some
see the same comment two different ways. You don't have to stop quoting anything.
You didn't even do anything wrong.
I just don't have the ability to relay a thought into writing without someone taking offense.
That's one of the reasons I've only posted once in the last month. I guess I should have waited more.

*sigh*

Note to self: never cite unneeded info from Amazon again.
[Budred] Sunday, July 22, 2012 7:07:18 PM
I don't know.
I'm responding to comments.
I've tried wording my responses so as not to bring up an old back and forth.
My comment below your's clearly states how good or bad Priest was is (not) the issue.
I'm assuming that's the "there again" you're referring to.
If Vail wants to bring that up or if you do then so be it.
My intent was to show that some can say Priest aren't what they once were and others can't.
Vail writes they were  "At the top of their game" in "1983". I was pointing out that that's the same
as saying some of what I do but worded differently and I get ripped for it.

You're free to call it however you want.
The issue wasn't how good or bad they were just that they are not what they once were.
Some have a hard time accepting that.

That's because it's not my comment (plus JD and a few others are currently absent/on vacation). Of course, I have no doubt that the US Festival shows just how "at the top of their game" Judas Priest was back in 1983. How could they not be? They were young and energetic and at their most successful. BUT! I still think JP played awesomely last year and have been for the past few years. Simply "calling it like I saw it".

It's funny how someone can make that comment in one context with no disapproval
but I made the same comment when discussing their latest tour and everyone had a fit.

For the record, I completely agree with your comment.
That was Priest at the top of their game.
The late seventies and early eighties were their best years.
As great as they've been, everything since has been a gradual decline.

??

I've only seen maybe two or three videos from that festival, hence the reason why I got excited and added that quote from the Amazon link I posted.

(1983) US Festival showcasing a band at the (top) of their game.
That sounds like you're insinuating that they were at their best at that time in their career.
That seems to say that they were better then than they are now.
Hmm, interesting.

The bonus DVD boasts the first ever commercial release of the band’s awesome 1983 US Festival show. It’s a storming set of 12 songs and showcases a band at the top of their game.

Okay, I'm sold.
