Very well said, my dear! I believe I mentioned that very same thing in a post or two a LONG time ago. It is cultural. I do not care for it but, then again, I have never been a disenfranchised black man. We could argue the virtues of the genre all day, but there needs to be an understanding of the origins and what it means to be "from the hood", as you put it.

While I agree that rap is crap, I will make exceptions for some of the Beastie Boys' earlier stuff as well as 2 other songs because they make me laugh. |
