I started to listen to Kiss in 1978 . I collect all of their records till 1986. I ended up selling them in 86' for a buck a piece. What a dumb shit I was. They have always put their heart in their shows and could touch all ages .

I must agree with you Freeze, they are mainly just a good rock-n-roll band.
That said, being a fan since the ripe age of ten (1975 Destroyer) and having
seen them a half dozen times, you know what your going to get when you see
them live. One helluva SHOW! As musicians they leave something to be desired
but as showmen they are near the top.  Just my opinion

I'm a relatively new KISS fan and yes the starter of this thread. I discovered them close to maybe 4 years ago thanks to a now ex work colleague and I like the majority of their albums. I love Psycho Circus, both the track and the album. I also like Rock and Roll Over, Love Gun and Hot in The Shade. I wasn't around to see KISS in the 70's and to be honest still haven't seen them even the last tour as I live in Africa, can't afford to travel and can't see them coming down here.

I was a big KISS fan back in the 70's. I think most kids then were. The problem for me is, it was never about great musicianship with them. It was about the "show". I do not believe ANY of them are GREAT musicians, and that includes Paul. They can play. Paul has a decent voice. But the theatrical show is really what made KISS and that is a big reason they went "back to the make up". Of course, there is always the aspect of money. No doubt about it but I cannot think of even one album by KISS that has what I would consider GREAT musicianship. I believe more than one member of the group has admitted as much. They have said that they are just a rock and roll band. No technical genius involved. "Just straightforward rock and roll". Even that might be a bit ambitious as far as I am concerned.

I actually liked Carnival of Souls very much, it showed KISS evolving ... I think it was a big mistake to go backwareds and put the make up back on. Im sure it was only for money. They should have kept Bruce and Eric and continued to make good music instead. Now they are just sad old men ... Psycho Circus was an okay KISS album, but to see them again in make up was idiotic, that belonged in the 70's and 80's ... And to get Ace and Peter back, what a fuck up ...
Ive been a KISS fan since 1976 so its not that I don't like KIss, but you have to agree that Paul is the only true musician today. Gene just wanna be rich and famous (nothing new there)

my fav. albums are CREATURES OF THE NIGHT & LICK IT UP.......they were both very good.
Crazy nights also has a couple of good songs in it.  ASYLUM was horrible(apart from the song ' Tears are falling' which is the best KISS song ever)

Easily the best post classic era Kiss. And the most heavy. Love that album

I thought Revenge was a pretty good Kiss album. Came out in the early 90's. The first song Unholy was awesome.

A sad fact of many Kiss's 80's albums. Gene was in Hollywood trying to become a movie star.

Apart from Creatures Of The Night, Lick It Up and Revenge, I'm not exactly bowled over from the post "classic era" Kiss. There are a few good songs on Psycho Circus, but for me the real Kiss is the likes of Destroyer, Hotter Than Hell, Love Gun etc.

And I hate the way that Gene constantly slags Ace. I mean this is from someone who has released one of the worst ever albums - Asshole

I was quite excited to see Paul Stanley's recent solo tour for his "Live to Win" album of 2006 has finally come out on DVD. Can't wait till the day I can actually afford to buy it.

Maybe he realizes that he's far too busy with his other endeavours to put forth the effort required.
