Metallica is better than the other three bands.  Like JP, their songs have mixture of viciousness & beautifulness for example, Master Of Puppets.
Their twin guitar sound is gr8. James can sing emotionally like Rob does such as in "Nothingelse Matters" |

metalilica doesnt even count any more.They lost their write to be put along side with real metal along time ago.Metallica can keep kissing the ass of kid rock and lincoln park fans all they want..they would have to put out 3 or 4 kick ass thrash albums for me to even show any interest e in them again and they would have to be on some kick ass tours with the bands who totaly blew righjt by tham in the last 15 years.excuse my spelling,my key pad is broke and i cant dfelete this shit. |

Slayer is the best in the present period, Metallica after their Black have become impotent,
Old Anthrax was excellent, same goes with Megadeth.
Combined together they have given masterpieces of metal art like And Justice...,Master ...,RIP, Spreading the ...., Seasonsin.... |

Metallica lost their momentum after Black, although there is some good work on Load & Reload. The avant-garde stuff with the orchestra(s) didn't really squeak my sneaker. I have a lot of affection for Metallica bc they were my late hubby's fave. My fave Metallica effort is still And Justice for All, with Black a close second. And I identify with "Sanitarium."
Megadeth has done some truly great stuff. They are awesome. Y'all younger folks will laugh at me bc I'm 47 y o but I bang seriously to Wake up Dead, it's on my computer & when it comes up I majorly crank it.
I dig Anthrax. Some of their stuff is a bit wall-to-wall thrash, which lacks the musical depth I prefer, but they definitely rock. I like to put them in a set with the Circle Jerks, Pantera & Stabbing Westward.
Believe it or not, I find some of Slayer a little too mellow. Yes I really did say that! So that's my humble ranking of these four: Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer.

This is how all 4 bands have stacked up for me for the last 10 years or so:
Slayer
Megadeth
Metallica
Anthrax
Still enjoy them all to some extent or another...but I can't tolerate anything Metallica have done since the 'black album,' and while Anthrax impressed all hell outta me when I saw 'em opening for Priest back in '02 (the first time I'd seen Anthrax since they opened for Ozzy back in '87), I can't say I really listen to them very much at all otherwise....it's not that I think they suck or anything...I've just gotten more involved with other bands that truly do it for me.
In spite of it all...Slayer are fuckin' KING... (no pun intended). Powerful to a fault! |
