I have heard a couple of interviews where they openly said that a second leg of the tour is in the works. Just not the whole Metal Masters as, if I recall. Something about conflicting schedules.
Let's hope. I enjoyed them all but, like most, could have done without an opening band for a longer Priest set. we wished you were there sweetheart, we took some pics with a sign for those that werent with us physically, but you were with us in spirit. and thank you. i can't wait to read the others review. the setlist was the same, but with the addition of "sinner" and "messenger of death". but oh god they looked amazing!!!! they all looked healthy and happy, an amazing feat considering how long they've been going at it this time around.

LOL, the night before when we all met at the Loose Caboose, ( i still say its a fitting name!) Freezies princess had purchased sharpies and poster board for us. (thank you again sweetheart!!!) so we all set about making our signs for the show after we had eaten. we were all there. we get to the venue, and nope. gotta hand over the signs!!! so now what? well, we get in there and Doll has the paper tickets printed, so we used the silver sharpied and the backs of the tickets to make a couple signs anyway. bwahahahaaa!!! well, she made one that said "Sinner" with an arrow pointing down, so when you hold it over your head, you know..it says your a sinner. well, we held it up, and Glenn read it, and nodded his head, pointed and basically said.."yep, we're gonna play that tonight:" AHAHAHAAA!!! i am hoarse, i have whiplash, and my heart is heavy. not like the metal either. LOL. i miss the girls, so much. we had a glorious time. LOL, after the show was over, picture this....a bunch of 40 50 something metal heads pooring out of a venue, INSIDE the casino full of NON metal heads, screaming, HOLLERING, CHANTING, "PRIEST PRIEST PRIEST". it was so freeking crazy!!! all through out the casino, the hotel, you could hear us, hear the call of the Priest. god damn, it did my soul good.

Here's the dope on this show...
Testament-- Good set but too loud. Sound was a little distorted but for them that was probably the way it was supposed to be.
Motorhead-- Great set. "We play Rock-N-Fuckin Roll" said Lemmy!! And they did just that. First time seeing them and I'd go again, strong songs kept the crowd going and a great drum solo. He killed on it, smoked Vinnie Appice.
Heaven and Hell-- These guys flat out know how to put on a show! Aside from Vinnie, the theatrics were sepectacular! Ioomi is a genius and Butler is amazing with what he does on that bass! Dio is one of the ultimate front men, he went out into the crowd three times during the show,s while singing the song!! I was very surprised by this performance.
Now for the METAL GODS!!
ABSOLUTELY FUCKING AMAZING! From the opening Dawn of Creation into Prophecy thru the set it was intense, smooth, engaging, fun and the best show ever! Rob looked like he was having more fun than the last tour, talking and saying hello to the lucky front row peeps. Glenn was stellar on all his parts, clean and right on time. KK was a man possed!! He shredded all night long on every song. Eat Me Alive was stunning!! Devil's Child another killer! The sing alongs, the head bangin' and of course the screams were all perfect! The addition of Green Manilishi as an encore was classic! Overall the BEST Priest show I've seen!! Can't wait for the next tour! |

I was also at the Shoreline Ampitheater gig. I missed Testament because I was still stuck at the ultra-slow moving merchandise stand getting my Priest shirts. Ah well, I'm not really into them, anyways. I also am not a fan of Motorhead, but i was entertained by them--or more accurately, by Mickey Dee their drummer! He is just so full of energy, and hella good!
Heaven and Hell lived up to & surpassed my expectations. I had never gotten around to seeing them, Black Sabbath or Dio before, so this was really a special treat for me. Damn, they were awesome! I hope they keep this up & keep touring, as I'd love to see them again.
Of course, Priest are ALWAYS a joy to see. Interesting set list (it was the same as what has been posted earlier in "setlist central". It was nice to hear what I considered the more "obscure" stuff done up live, like "Rock Hard Ride Free"! I am sooo glad they kept "Painkiller" in their set! What worried me a bit was Rob--anyone who saw this show, did you get the impression that after doing the more difficult vocal parts of that song, Rob seemed to be exhausted? I recall him kinda slumpin' over, trying to catch his breath & energy. KK, Glenn, Ian and Scott are fabulous, as usual! My eyes were glued to them for the most part.
Now, bring on Nostradamus in full, please!! |

Oh, yeah!! Almost forgot:
I think there were quite alot of fans that were planning to get onstage last night. There was this one guy who tried to tackle Dio during one song (I don't remember which one), and this one heavy set guy who got onstage during Judas Priest's set. He just stood there taking in the view and our cheers. I was pretty impressed as to how the big guy got onstage without security knowing. Overall it was pretty wild, just the way I like my shows. |

Alright its time to give out my review of the concert!
Testament 8/10
They were too loud even for my ears at times. The set was good but the sound was too overwhelming most of the time. My roomates and a lot of other people had to hold their ears most of the time. If the sound was turned down a couple of notches it would be better. Then again we were 8 rows from the front on the left side in the direct line of 12 hanging vertical speakers.
Motorhead 9.5/10
Now they have a reason to be loud: "We are Motorhead! We play Rock 'n Roll!" They had a great set with songs like "Metropolis", "Rock Out", "Going to Brazil" and finishing off with "Ace of Spades" and "Overkill". Mikkey Dee did an awesome drum solo and the band was great overall. By this time my roomates got earplugs to help them with the really loud parts.
Heaven and Hell 10/10
They are still doing great and were as good if not better than when they were here in Tucson last October. They played songs I wanted to hear like "Die Young", "Falling Off the Edge of the World" and "I". Everyone was great: Tony Iommi was still freaking awesome, Geezer Butler made a great impression with the effects, Vinnie Appice was great with a good drum solo and Dio was great as always running around the stage to the fans and showing great poise and talent.
Judas Priest 15/10
I now know what it is like seeing Priest live: IT IS F***ING AWESOME!!! They did the setlist a lot of people on the forums said but without "Death" :( . But it was still incredible and everyone got to hear their favorite songs or songs they just want to hear. I really liked it when they did "Rock Hard, Ride Free". Funny story happened here too: a storm was approaching during the Heaven and Hell set and was on top of us when Priest started. When Priest did "Devil's Child" the wind and rain picked up to the point where everyone under the cover was hit by rain. But when the song ended the storm passed. Halford commented after the storm "I guess that's what happens when you believe in the Devil's Child." LOL
Overall an amazing performance. LONG LIVE THE PRIEST!!!!!! Edited at: Friday, August 29, 2008 2:35:24 PM |

Dave Holland sounds good on Point Of Entry, British Steel and SFV, but thats about it. I never liked his live playing. Les Binks is the best priest drummer. |
