Me and my friends knew something was up with Rob back in the 80's. I was the biggest Priest fan in our circle, and they would rip into him/me about him being gay. They never liked my responses or defending him, cause i'd just say, i don't care about who he is dating/seeing, or what he's doing sexually, i'm at the show to hear him sing. If you don't like him maybe being gay, i won't get you a ticket next time their around! They never missed a show until getting older and married, and having kids, and moving on. Some of them still say shit, but they still go to the shows, so who's the fool? It's never bothered me too much, i just love their music. |

The music world/entertainment industry has (on the whole) been more tolerant/accepting of gays and lesbians than many other areas.
However, it stil seems that in metal/rock it is till not acceptable to many and apart from Rob, there are very few openly gay males in metal. And look how long it took him to come out. And with the ignorant attitude of so many, who can blame him?
Is it because metal is still seen as a matcho male thing? |
