PRIEST IN THE EAST...
[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Saturday, May 30, 2009 5:38:02 PM)

I love it when JP and other bands come out with live albums.  It never fails - when I see a concert, a new song, previously ignored, comes to the forefront.  The last tour, for me, that song was Sinner.  It's a great song performed well, but seeing KK shred it out live brought it to a whole new level.  Other concerts where this has happened were 1987 Heart, song The Wolf and The Cult, 1989, song New York City.  The Heart song was pretty generic on the album but just rocked live.  The Cult were backing up Metallica when I saw them and most of their act was drug-addled wailing.  That song must have been when they sobered up or their uppers kicked in.  Another example is the live version Starbreaker on the box set.  It's a perfectly good studio track that really flourished live.
So bring on the live albums.  It breathes new live into these classics and allows you to appreciate these songs in a new way.

Yes,.........there will NEVER be another live album as great as  UNLEASHED IN THE EAST..........................................................EVER.
This is the best live album "IN THE WORLD'S HISTORY OF MUSIC".      I really think this is true.

I'm not to thrilled about the band's new live offering....I feel that with the DVD's "Live In London,Electric Eye and Rising In The East".....even though those are "DVDs"...it feels as if they are "live albums"......
....it seems as if Priest has released 4 live albums since 2002 or so...?  I don't know,I'm kind of burnt out on these live offerings man.

I just would rather have the band take a break after this British Steel tour, and do nothing for a while, then think about a fresh approach to a new studio album.

I'm not to thrilled about them releasing the new live album...

here's my two pence:

I do NOT think this would be the greatest choice for a next release by the band. J.D.'s said it all already, and I'll extend it further:

We have Unleashed in the East. We have the Evening Star 7" (for Beyond the Realms of Death live). We have Priest...LIVE!.

We've got Electric Eye AND Rising In The East.

What do all of the above mentioned gather, besides being LIVE releases (or containing live material) from glorious masses of the Unholy Church of Iscariot and it's all mighty embassadors?

They all have the Sacrossaint Rob Halford roaring out the God's words in a perfect, rather Metal God-like voice.

2008 was NOT a good year for our Holy Priest Halford in terms of voice. I could hear that yesterday as I listened more carefully to the gig of March 17th. I'm sorry, it just wasn't. (What do you mean about them owing an apology to Ripper, what for?)

Now for the goo bit of news in here: TOM ALLON. HELL YEAH TOM ALLON!

Just... If they must, then let them get it out of their system, and let them KEEP Mr Allon for a new album. Once again, just my thoughts on this.

In nominus Iscariotis et HEAVY METAL,

Amen.

Unleahed is the best live alabum for sure, but i also cant ever get enough of Deep Purple-Made In Japan.

No doubt about it! The best live LP ever! The only one that comes close is not truely in the same class.  AC/DC, If you want Blood,........You Got it. It was very well done too, the material is good but not as good as Priest!

My only slight shock with the new album is there is no Hell Patrol. I keep my fingers crossed that they will release a deluxe DVD from this entire tour...of a typical Priest Feast concert, then bonus tracks played from British Steel this summer, then a disc with a full Nostradamus show.

No doubt JD. This was the first album I heard of Priest and I was hooked. The first time I heard Sinner and Victom of Changes I thought "Holy Shit". Up to that point I was a Die-Hard for Sabbath.

Yeah man they took a slow track like 'Genocide' and turned it into a monster song, the intro gives me the shivers pure awesome Priest Power! FUCK YEAH! Les Binks really shone on this record thank God Scott can play Exciter properly cause Dave didn't stand a bloody chance!
