Thanks Nupe,I thought it would be a great idea too although Hellrider hates the idea haha! I know Rob can ocasionally pull of the signature sream sometimes like when Hellrider saw them live 3 or 4 years ago and I believe every word he says too,but I know he can't pull it off every show,so why not just let Glenn or Ken pinch a harmonic note and drop it with the tremolo bar,it would be kick ass,and Painkiller would be something to look forwards to live again.

Yeah, I wasn't criticizing the whole Painkiller track as a live version, just Rob's voice in it. But for a guy in his sixties, he makes a respectable effort to sing it like he did twenty years ago. Year idea of letting the guitars do the screaming is actually quite good.

Nupe & Metallian, actually the entire Painkiller track live these days is actually decent its just that we all love and crave that signature "scream" that Rob does which really makes the song and he seems to struggle with it live,I keep saying I think it would be better if he just let Glenn or K.K. do that scream on thier guitars,it would do Painkiller justice these days, that way the entire track live would be much more enjoyable,no?

Maybe it's meant to increase the sales of painkiller medication?

On a more serious note, I agree that Rob has never managed to do a proper job with Painkiller when it's performed live. He did an OK job in 1991 (Rock In Rio bootleg) but can't do it at all nowadays.

Breakin the Law!
I agree with u 100% J.D.!
It is painfull to listen to painkiller live nowadays!

Which makes no sense cause,if it is suppose to kill pain, why then does it cause so much pain to listen to it!

Well i am partial to painkiller live, heard it 2 of the last 3 tours and like most all songs of that era they drag, remember he is older, and breaking the law is a simple song that has been on their playlist forever! But when in concert they rock and thats the final thing we want!

How about comparing the 2 songs live nowadays in 2010-2011 ?? I'd take "Breaking The Law" 100% over Painkiller as  somebody said a while ago....Rob's voice on Painkiller live these days sounds like an osteridge being tormented by a blow torch!

both , they are 2 great songs from the best band of the universe ¡

tricky territory...2 very different tunes, kinda hard to compare...Breaking the Law is very straightforward and basic, but catchy as hell, the stuff you'd go nuts for at an 80's dance at school, (which is a good thing regardless) but Painkiller is more like, I'm in the car and I want to blow my eardrums and bang my head against the steering wheel

Breaking the Law is a simplistic song, done to be catchy and appeal to largest audiences, but Painkiller is a metal anthem!! personally I prefer Metal Meltdown

Everyone has their own opinion but I'm like, "What Brian said".

Yeah, why bother to compare. They are both epic, I am personally more inclined toward The Sentinel but, thats not to say one is better than the other. Everyone has their own opinion.

Why bother to campare the two anyway...they are BOTH  AWESOME SONGS by the PRIEST....'nuff said

That was the must idiot reply from a heavy metal fan! Breaking the the law is top 40 song its ok but not even in the same league with PAINKILLER like this topic!
[Brian_Evans] Monday, March 07, 2011 10:30:22 PM
