This man is somewhat of a hero in my country. I remember watching his release from prison. I shed many tears of empathy on my visits to Robben Island and to me this is the most non racist, most peaceful man that I have ever come across. I do wonder when he looks back on his country today, Is this what he envisioned?
For any human to endure what he had to endure, to come out of that with not one bit of hatred towards his opressers, you just have to respect the man for that. I'm very proud to have been at the age I was when things started to change in South Africa. I can only hope that through this all, one day South Africa will be the country that Madiba envisioned it could be. As bleak as the media may paint South Africa, I assure you, we have our moments of sheer beauty and pride. I believe one day that my kids will be proud to be africans.. but that being said this is just the scrambled ramblings of my mind, I, the eternal optamist! lol
