Cheers for the welcome!! Most English call Scots 'Jock' in a derogatory bigoted manner without knowing the true meaning of the word. Short for 'jock-strap' because we invented it and have something worth protecting beneath it!! - unlike our neighbours south of Hadrians wall!! The 'jock-strap' is/was a garment Scots wear under their kilts in the cold Winter months to stop their manhood from dropping off due to frostbite!! lol Jock is also slang for 'penis' for obvious reasons!! However, the word 'jock' originated in Scotland in the 16th/17th century when John was a common christian name. Scots (and Americans) going by the name John are often called 'Jack' or 'Jock'. So there you have it. History lesson for the day. Hope that has helped clear things up.
