TOPIC: The DF / MM / MP PROJECT
[METAL MELTDOWN] Tuesday, September 23, 2008 7:03:28 AM
The one song I have here is mic'ed, the slow heavy one that I have dubbed "Indian".  I had to play with that thru Cubase's software to get the sound how I wanted it.  It took a while to get it just right.   If I have only one issue with Cubase LE is that it doesnt have a decent graphic EQ, unless I just havent found it on there as of yet.  I am still trying to learn this software.  The other 2 I ran direct with the Boss with very little tweeking.

There is something to be said about running direct.  I have done it in the past with bands but have always wound up mic'ing to get the feel of the celestions, when I had cabs with them.  There is something about celestions and a mic that sounds so good and warm.  The sound I got running direct seemed too brittle and harsh with no warmth.  For recording, I think its great.  But you would need good cabinet simulators on processors to acheive a good tone.  I tried my old Tube Works head running direct for this recording and it sounded like total shit with a hum and all.  I like this ME50.  It does a good job.
