My mother's birthday is Aug. 16th. May 8th would mean you were a Taurus, but I don't get that "vibe" from you. I know some Taurus' and they are, shall we say, difficult. Well, I happen to celebrate 2 birthdays...my real one is August 18, which makes me a Leo...My adopted birthday is May 8, 2003, a day in which my life was literally saved...I'm not sure what the sign is for that, but I think it only counts for the original...but for me personally, it truly is a 2nd lease on life!!!
I kind of embrace the term 'being stuck'. When it's used against me, it makes me happy in a way that reminds me that I never let go of what made (makes) me happy!!

I've gotten that same thing said to me (being told I'm 'stuck'). It's always said by someone who claims to care, but in reality they don't. They don't know you, much less accept you for you who are, so how could they care?!
You'd know if you were shy. From what I've read from you, shy is not a word I'd use to descibe you! (admittedly I don't know you well--yet)

It looks like the 40+ crowd (?) has been chimming in (I'm 42), and even though you 'don't have to be old to be wise', there is something to be said for enduring life's challenges (God knows they never stop).
I don't get into a lot of today's trends, never have been a follower, and that comes with the ridicule of be 'stuck', but I see it differently. Our age changes, what makes us happy and comfortable doesn't.
As for being shy?! I couldn't tell!!

About giving things a chance, not giving in to trends or people, about how people today seem focused on very shallow things like appearances. I too feel like an "old fogie" at 42. I much prefer yesterdays music to todays music. I'm more interested in whether a singer can sing, what they're singing about, the lyrics, the instrumentation, than listening to someone scream into the microphone while their "band" kills your ears.
I've also been told that I'm shy but when I'm with the right people who get me, I am far from shy. I guess it's just a matter of where you feel comfortable. These days I really don't have many friends either and my best friend, my fiance, recently died so.......

Well said  People need to give everything a chance - I may only be young but i know enough to realise that my generation is impatient, quick to judge, wasteful and self centred. They don't give anything a second glance unless the tools controlling fashion and the media/culture say it's "cool" there are only a handful of of us who appreciate those who have gone before us, those who have florished well before we were born, and trends that were set before our time. And i'm not one of those hipsters who likes to wear retro because it's cool, for example if im wearing a band shirt or sporting a badge with a band name on it, rest assured i know who they are, what they play and own some of their albums.
I feel like in a way i'm forced to listen to older bands, and albums because whats on offer currently from newer bands just lacks depth, unless anyone can suggest anything? And not any of those bands who just cut and copy riffs and lyrics from the legends and sell it as their own.. oh and having a vocalist who sings is good too.. i hate that screaming / growling crap.

What really pisses me off is when someone makes a judgment of a album without giving it a chance. If you want to understand why or where your band is going with there music at least listen to the damn album. You know heavy metal is not all about screaming thru the whole song, lets get back to where the music moves you deep down. This judas priest album does that for me, thank you to band that stayed with there roots and did'nt get caught up in the screaming crap.
