Yeah, lots of older style and cheap apartments don't have aircon. and by cheap i mean suburban.. not exactly cheap mind you. Older houses & government houses don't. Unless you have the money to pay for and get installed you have to suffer. Lots of people have back decks or patios.. good for the afternoon breeze (if there is one)... but yes growing up i had no aircon to speak of, it was pedestal fan and spray bottle for me The garden hose provided hours of cooling off until water restrictions came in... so i purchased some big mean looking water guns... hehehe [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Deep Freeze from Friday, December 12, 2008 12:04:35 PM) | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Really? That is terrible! Here in Vegas ,nearly every home has forced air. Every room is cool. I cannot imagine living without it!! | | devils_child wrote: | | God may have created it, but man jacked up the price so us average working class cannot afford to aircondition all but one room in the house... yes i find myself sleeping on the couch at times because my matress is like a hotplate. I am very greatful to have aircon in the loungeroom, many of my friends do not have the privledge... guess who hosts all the movie nights at her house in summer? | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | GREAT point on the sweating! I cannot sleep if I am hot. That is why God invented air conditioning, right? HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | devils_child wrote: | | Well with a name like "Freeze" one would assue that you like snow?.... hehehe, I hear ya on the cold thing. I had lower jaw surgery resulting in 3 screws in either side of my jaw, whenever the weather gets cold my jaw is stiff and it aches. Not that i like summer however... a warm climate is nice though, I'm so sick of sweating my butt off all day, and waking up already perspiring is not my idea of comfort. | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | It is not so much that I "fight" it as it really does hurt me. My back aches when it gets cold. Summer is a much more comfortable time of year for me these days! |
