Oh, by no means am I saying it does...in other sports, a player seems to be 'immortalized' by the team he/she is 'most' recognized with...in Carlton Fisks place, how can you escape his arms flailing in the air trying to 'aid' the ball fair??, it doesn't matter how many years or games or whatever he did with the ChiSox, Fisk is 'known' as a Red Sox...maybe there should be a mandate that requires teams to only consider retiring the numbers of players who play their entire career for that team...or some other criteria...but something...should the Flames have retired it?, or should it not have been retired at all? some teams look like the main goal is to run out of numbers | | ronhartsell wrote: | | ...well let's see...if you go by who he had the longest tenure with, then the Leafs take it, by default...lets see...6 yrs. with Toronto, 5 w/Blues, 4 w/Flames, and 2 each w/Devils, Blackhawks, Sabers and your beloved Habs...23 yrs. of NHL hockey and 7 teams...he did total over 81 points in 7 seasons, eclipsing the century mark 3 times...but in 7 seasons he played 44 or less games (not including 1 year playing for Rapperswill-Jona of Swiss-A)...and then there's the Stanley Cup with Calgary...it's the same question that we had here in Chicago when Carlton Fisk retired...Boston or ChiSox for his HOF induction and who he'd represent...if an individual team does it, maybe it's not such a big deal...but hockey is a different animal as compared to other pro sports...maybe he should have followed some baseball players leads and used it as a bargaining chip during contract talks (makes me sick!!)...so I guess it would be between the Leafs and the Flames, as winning the Cup has much more significance... | | Soylentgreen4u a.k.a. theWOLFMAN wrote: | | GOOD MORNING RON ...YES SIR,TUESDAY MARCH 31 AT 'THE KEG'(OUR NICKNAME FOR THE MOLSON CENTRE,LIKE IT?)...GOOD W FOR YOUR TEAM INDEED...MY GUYS SQUEAKED OUT A WIN LATE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON....GOOD MATCHUP TODAY AT 2PM,BRUINS AT MONTREAL...
