WELL DARTH,IT WASN'T A BIG SHOCK,A BIT OF A SURPRISE YES,BUT NOT A SHOCK...THERE WAS PROBABLY A LITTLE MORE TO THE STORY THEN WE SHALL EVER KNOW,AND THAT'S FINE,
I MET CARBONNEAU WAY BACK WHEN HE WAS PLAYING FOR THE HABS...A NICE ENOUGH FELLOW TO BE SURE,BUT AS WE SPORTS FANS KNOW ALL TOO WELL,YOU CAN'T FIRE THE TEAM,SO THE USUAL CASUALTY IS THE COACH...I WAS IN MONTREAL FOR THE AFTERNOON YESTERDAY,AND THERE WAS QUITE THE BUZZ AROUND TOWN FOR SURE,BUT BOB GAINEY,WHO I HAVE THE UTMOST RESPECT FOR,WILL BRING INTO THE ROOM A TREMENDOUS PRESENCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR SURE... AN INCREDIBLE CAPTAIN IN HIS TIME,AND MORE IMPORTANTLY,A GOOD MAN,WHO HAS SUFFERED PERSONAL TRAGEDIES OVER THE YEARS....
I'M NOT SAYING THIS WILL TRANSLATE INTO A COMPLETE TURNAROUND,ALTHOUGH I'M HOPING ...BUT IT SEEMS MOST THINK IT WAS THE RIGHT MOVE TO MAKE AT THIS TIME...
HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE I GUESS......THEY DID MANAGE TO OUTLAST EDMONTON TONIGHT IN O.T. ...ONE DOWN,ABOUT 15 TO GO I THINK...

It's just like what Bob Clarke did to Billy Barber here in Philly a few years ago. Same situation...it's not the coach but the players who are at fault in this in my opinion, but time will tell. | | Soylentgreen4u a.k.a. theWOLFMAN wrote: | | MONTREAL GIVES COACH CARBONNEAU HIS WALKING PAPERS...GUESS THIS WAS COMIN',HOWEVER AFTER A SOLID GAME AND WIN IN DALLAS,I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN JUST YET...... |
