SDB is right about the custom shop. Just for grins and giggles a few months back , I submitted a custom build to Jackson and ESP. Both were over 4 grand and the only difference between what I submitted and what I now have was the pickups and the fingerboard. I opted ,then, for the Duncan Distortion and the Duncan Hotrails, with an Maple fingerboard. Jackson actually came in slightly cheaper than ESP. But both listed nearly a year before delivery.
As for binding, as mentioned ,strictly cosmetic, but it does enhance the look of the neck.
So far, I like the EMG`s, very high output, not a high as in distortion type of output, but in signal strength.
As far the Kahler, good units, but I`m addicted to the Floyds after all these years. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazooka Joe from Tuesday, April 28, 2009 11:29:14 AM) | | Bazooka Joe wrote: | | I know I was just wondering what the hell the point of it was haha.
I'm gonna get a through neck body, 81/85 EMG combo (still not sure about that), might get that EMG EXP or whatever the fuck it's called EQ switch, 24(it's not a real guitar unless it's got 24!!!) fret maple neck (ebony fretboard), alder body I think, sharkfin inlays (just cause I like them a little more), a 2300 Kahler Tremolo system most likely (still looking into different ones like classic Floyd's too), solid black paint job and chrome hardwear. Oh yeah it's a King V too haha.
Basically it'll look like this, with hardwear, knobs, and pickup differences. But this is the basic idea:
