I've never really had a problem with AVG before...a lot of my buddies have it. I don't have a laptop, so I really need to try and take care of this thing. The thought of disconnecting my tower after finally being up and running is scary, but if that's what I have to do then that's what I have to do... AVG has saved a few laptops where Avast failed. I say get either Rocketfish or Creative Sound Blaster internal sound card. Bring the PC into the store with you and have one of the associates help you.

I was using AVG, always had, but have now switched to Avast. I'm only about 15 hours into the new system here, so the jury is still 'out' as far as if I think this is better or not, but I got bombarded by viruses at the beginning of April and AVG couldn't contain them. Hopefully I'll get one today, but I don't know what kind of sound card I should be looking for...

Avast is good, but I think AVG is slightly better.
Ron, you need a sound card. Go to Best Buy and get one now.

thanks for the kind words. my comp. died (finally/again), but now I should be fine. i'm also using a different anti-virus now, which i think will be better. all i need now is a sound card (chip/whatever) and then all the planets will align (lol).
