I know that..
I believe I read / heard a interview with rob, that he wanted to try ans write with his own band,, try it on his own, for a bit... And since that was what was going on then,,, I think he was trying to opt into the scene when he ventured out on his own.. Hence the grunge crap of the 90's... I dont care for that music,, I agree they all would not be where they are today if it was not for the Metal bands.. ect..

So in other words he was having a midlife crisis. He broke up Priest at their peak in order to try and compete with the new breed of hardcore metal bands eg Pantera, Sepultura and adopted the grunge look that those guys wore in an attempt to remain relevant. I think he failed to realise that without Priest none of those bands would have existed.

I think Rob was going with the flow at that time .. The music industry was changing,, Stone temple pilots, Nirv, pearl jam. ect... the grunge movement.

Enough about Freddy, anyone else have any thoughts about Halfords midlife crisis and grunge look in the early 90s?
