The first point, is who cares? Real metal fans dont care how "popular" a band is. As for them being more "popular" if Rob was straight, I really dont think it would have made any difference at all. In fact, if anything, they are more revered now, and considered legends today, than before Rob came out of the closet. A small minority of "fans" did turn their back on Priest because of Rob's sexuality, but hardly enough to make a real dent in their fanbase. And I doubt Rob, or the rest of the band are sorry to see the back of such "fans" anyway. I have seen a few idiots making malicious comments about Rob and Priest because of his sexuality, but in the main, I think the metal community accepted Rob, which is as it should be.
