Here is a really awful picture of me and a pretty decent picture of Guid. Combine Rain and me looking like a geek in 90 percent of the pictures I take, and well you have this! HA!!
I made Guid go to the Nashville Parthenon, and actually go inside it, as I have seen the original parthenon and have always wanted to see it's half scale replica. This is what the Parthenon looked like before the turks hid artillery in it and lighting struck it and not only blew it up, but burned it all to Hell. Yet the orginal still stands through earthquakes and time as a testament to the superior engineering those that built it.
My main reason to want to see this place was to see the replica of the statue of Athena that originally stood in the middle of the Parthenon. Designed and built by Phedias, it was a huge statue of Athena clad in ivory and gold. How anything that large disappeared from history without a trace except the ancient discriptions of her, is beyond my comprehension.
OK, history class is over! LOL
