TOPIC: 30th Anniv. British Steel Setlist 2009
[Deep Freeze] Monday, August 10, 2009 6:49:16 AM

OK, finally getting around to my review of the show. STILL a bit hoarse from all the yelling but that is just fine..I can type! HAAAA!!!!!!!!

So, I mentioned PopEvil over in their Thread. Enough said about them, except that I remain VERY impressed with the honest and humble attitude they had.  As for Whitesnake, it may be a bit unfair of me to try to review their effort as I am a Coverdale fan. I think he has done some amazing things in his career and managed to stay commercially viable even though he has drifted in and out of the music scene on a couple of occasions. He has never really "re-invented" himself..at least not to a noticable degree.  He is as he was back in the 70's, a Plant clone that can sing and write very well. He always delivers as far as I am concerned and that is the mark of a true professional. (Granny screams be dammned...HAAAAAA!!!)

Now then, onto the Boys....What can I say?? Judas Priest continue to make it happen and do it the right way..ALL THESE years later! I am glad I had the opportunity to see them twice in less than a month. it was a chance to make a comparison and I was pleasantly surprised. Priest are the Gods.  There is NO doubt about it. They are simply amazing. And at their age...I am in awe. Judas Priest sets the standard by which all others are measured. I believe with all my heart.

Glenn and KK are as tight as they have ever been, as far as I can tell. They have been together so long that they just know instinctively. It is a remarkable thing to witness, actually. Just amazing. Ian is such a great guy.  He goes to his corner and there he stays. He is in the background doing EXACTLY what he is supposed to do, lay down a foundation with Scott.  Those two are great at that. The beat is always dead-on. True professionals.

Rob.  Our dear, beloved Rob. I was so happy to see him smiling and enjoying himself. A far cry (I think) from the Vegas show last year at the Palms. He seems genuinely happy. Of course, they are getting near the end of this tour and I can only imagine how badly he must want to get back to that quiet apartment by the ocean! Nonetheless, a brilliant performance! His screams are so cool. Not what they were thirty years ago as far as pitch but OH MAN!! When he lets loose it pierces your skull!!!  Love the set list , too. I have NO complaints.  They are delivering exactly what they said they would and I do not think they should make ANY changes! It all comes together very nicely.

All in all, a tremendous show. Absolutely incredible. I am SO glad they did this tour at this time. My step-son got to hear some "classic" Priest and THAT is truly special. Would love to catch ONE more show this year but I will settle for the two I did see and say, BRAVO. Well done, indeed. I did not go backstage. I did not get a picture with the Band or hang out by the buses for an autograph but I did get every single dollar's worth of what I spent!! I wonderful evening with THE world's greatest Heavy Metal act....ever,
