Sadly, I've been to a few shows like that as well.

I mean, I do not know for sure but I assume that each act has their own sound engineers? Naturally, it would follow that the better acts would be able to afford better sound. So many people do not give proper credit to sound engineers. It is an art!! Not just anyone can sit in front of a soundboard and do it well!!! Same goes for mixing an album or even a song.
