Actually Craig, that song "Last Entertainment" is from the band's 3rd album,in my opinion it is not a good representation of this band, but thats only my opinion.I only like the first album "R.I.P." from 1987...after this album they "changed thier style". Listen to this track "Reborn Through Hate"...skip the intro and start this track at the 1:26 mark...thats where track # 2 comes in and is the first full length track on the album.
This is Coroner's strengths. This is why I posted they remind me of a cross between old Iron Maiden's vocalist Paul Di'Anno and Tom G.Warrior of Celtic Frost, and actually some of these riffs, again not all of them but some of these riffs even remind me of Iron Maiden mixed with Celtic Frost.A great debut album and is Coroner's best LP by FAR.

Very strange stuff. They have an "evil" sound. The vocals are quite unusual as well. Not a typical thrash band, but I like what I heard.

CORONER R.I.P. 1987
Yeah Steve,Coroner are from Zurich Switzerland as you know, however they were very important to the German thrash scene because not only were they good, but they had ties with Tom of Celtic Frost to boost thier name as well as Tom G.Warrior wrote the "Spiral Dreams" track#7 off of the debut album "R.I.P." in 1987. Boy this album is "UNDERRATED" BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To me,Ron Royce's voice reminds me of a cross between X- Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno and Tom G.Warrior of Celtic Frost, and some of the riffs not all of them, but some of them remind me of Iron Maiden as well. I'm not to big on anything they released after this debut album but I will say along with you Steve that this band especially this album kicks serious balls and should be picked up by everyone who loves thrash metal. A+ in my book.

Painkiller, you forgot to add Coroner to the name of this thread. They were just as good, if not better, than the other 3, and just as important in the German thrash scene of the 80's. |
