Man, Joe.. I hope you don't have any problems switching back, filing the nut may change your intonation, and having strings that heavy under that tension may also bow your neck, so DO NOT try to get it in standard tuning.

The next time they are out of your brand of strings, try something with the same string gauge as you normally use. If you are not sure what they are, cut the string size guide out of the package and keep it in your wallet.

As long as the strings are not bronze, you can use any other type in a pinch, as long as you match your sizes properly....
