Hey man its been a while. Still up for some FPS action on Steam haha? :D
But yeah the Spider amps are a great starter amp. Mainly because you can get that average metal tone out of it, and it has all the effects pedals built right into it. With hundreds of presets to tweak.

Dont ever buy another Spider amp again unless its the Spider Valve mk 2 amp.
Basically everything is better than a Spider amp. I have a Spider 3 as well.
