Are you able to post some footage of yourself playing or a link? They have a very smooth and creamy tone like an old PAF. My pickups of choice are Duncan Distortions, good full frequency and high output without being over the top. I have also used Dimarzio Tone Zones and the Fred model, but only becaue they were cheaper than the Duncans and I was changing out 4 pickups at once in 2 guitars. But I haven`t ever used the Screamin Demon, not that I don`t want to, just haven`t.
I just couldn`t come to terms with the EMG`s in the Jackson, not bright enough. They had such a high signal strength and absolutely no noise at all, just to dark for what I wanted.
that top is a Flamed maple with a translucent Amber top, just like EVH used for years. This is sort of my tribute to him in a round about way. The neck is unfinished spalted maple, and a smaller radius than the Jackson, but sweet none the less. | | K2M wrote: | | That is a Beautiful Top. What kinda Pickups.
Guitardude what kinda pickups do you use? do you use the screaming demon? i have, i like them.
But i want some wide open screamers for a different axe. Any suggestions? | | guitardude wrote: | | Yea, the truss rod adjustment is like a large thumb wheel, but it has holes for this small rod you insert to turn it. This thing plays so sweet, so far I can`t seem to put it down. (Quoting Message by SDBinNY from Sunday, January 24, 2010 7:41:05 PM)

The top on that thing is gorgeous !!! I love how they did the truss rod on that one, no need to play with covers or take the neck off to adjust it...
I hope this one gets the tone you are after, I know you had a lot of issues with the Jackson. The guy I sold my KV2 to is also having the same dilema, but he would have to dremel the routes out for the pickups he wants in it..
