Hard to say what the "mainstream" thought. We tried very hard NOT to fit in with the public. We also tried very hard to be "ahead" of the curve when it came to music, always trying to be "in the know" about what was coming and what would be the next "Zepplin". That is kind of how we gauged music.. I remember one of my best friends telling me Van Halen would be the next Zepplin. Of course, this was in 1976 or 77 when they were still going by "Mammoth".
