I bumped into my best friends ex husband in the store today. We were polite and pleasent to each other, like we'd have no reason not to be. After all, the parted on amicable terms. Then we got to talking about their son whose just broken his foot in five places. I asked how he was doing and Alain said he was just fine. Then he told me his fiance was pregnant so the wedding was postponed.. All I could think about at that point was Luca.. does he miss his mom being there to hold his hand through all of this? And by all of this I mean does he miss her being there when he had to have surgery to have the broken bones in his foot changed, is he ok with the changes of a new brother or sister on the way so soon after mom being totally taken out of the picture? No doubt he loves his dad but he was so close to his mom.. and no matter how much he hurrts, what joke or anecdote he wants to share with her of if he just wants her to tuck him in at night.. she'll never be there.. I wonder.. How is he really doing through all of this. If I'm this torn up.. how is my dear Luca doing without his mama?
