Other than the obvious (Judas Priest), it's hard to pick a favorite. Here's a top 5.
It's based on overall experience more so than best concerts.
1. Judas Priest (White Snake) (Iron Maiden) I981 Point of Entry Tour-Pittsburgh
...My first time seeing the Priest. Also pre-Dickenson Maiden and pre-Coverdale Whitesnake.
It was in a theater and all three bands were badass. Priest blew me away and I've been a fan
ever since.
2. Kiss (New England) 1979 Dynasty Tour-Pittsburgh
...I was 13 years old and I was seeing my favorite band. They were the biggest spectacle in rock
at the time. Gene breathing fire and spitting blood. Ace shooting fireworks out of his guitar.
The drumrisers. The fire and explosions. etc.etc...Very memorable experience.
3. Pink Floyd 1987 Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour-Cleveland Munincipal Stadium
...I managed a couple pieces of paper which made this the most (visual) experience I ever had at
a concert. This was the biggest production that I have ever seen live. It would take me too long to try to describe it.
They claimed it was their biggest touring production.
4. Metallica (Suicidal Tendencies) (Fight) 1994-Burgettstown,Pa.
...Probably the overall heaviest concert that I went to. I've seen Metallica 10 times and that was their best performance.
It was Suicidal Tendencies' last hurrah and they went out with a bang. Very good live performance.
And of course, Fight. They kicked ass also. I think because of the line-up all three bands went out of their way
to see how heavy they could be. Freakin' awesome concert.
5. Black Sabbath (Pantera) 1999 Re-union Tour-Pittsburgh
...I saw them two years earlier at Ozzfest but they had a different drummer. This was the first time with the original
line-up. Ozzy didn't sound too bad, probably his last decent tour (performance wise). Any way it was a dream of mine to see these
guys and I finally got to. Pantera kicked ass also. I had front row seats to top it all off. Very memorable experience. Edited at: Wednesday, May 26, 2010 7:03:42 AM
