its still a bitch to get in the right spot and see at the right time. lots of bloody close calls on offside. having worked as a linesman (before it was called referees assistant) I know that you will for sure miss things. ALL of these off-sides calls are pure judgement calls as the action is fast and they have to make calls in a split-second. We fans watching on the TV really only know after seeing the slow-motion replay. 'Off-sides' seems to be the big difference maker this year, for a number of teams and not just the U.S. Although that sucks, there's been triple as many shots on goal going off the bar instead of in the net, I'm more concerned about that!!
I tend to think the sport needs better traing, maybe more ref's on the field or ref's not calling games of their own home countries (maybe that's a rule that's already in place, I don't know). What I do know is that if the U.S. made the goals they should have throughout the tournament, today would not have been so critical a match.
