I just got a call from our canoe club to say that there's been a break-in and my sister's slalom kayak has been stolen along with about eight others. Can't believe it, and whats more is apparently the police haven't even taken descriptions of the boats. Which is as stupid as it was to steal them in the first place- the UK slalom circuit is small enough that if they tried to sell the boats they would be instantly recognised (nearly all good quality ones have custom paint jobs, or at least names and tel numbers marked inside), so God knows where they'll end up. Probably in police storage under months worth of red tape if they are ever traced. I'm so mad, and upset for my sister too.
