News really sucks. While I can hear all about Paris Hilton's latest drug arrest 24/7, one has to search for actual news. Just reading up on the mining disaster in Chile, for example. Not a WORD of it on the 100+ channels of crap I have on TV. Imagine being trapped in a hole for 4+ months. Sure makes Paris seem petty.
In reality you take a chance living anywhere in NZ, as the whole country is astride a fault line. It's only a matter of time before an enormous one hits unfortunately. The time this one struck has a lot to do with the fact there has been no deaths, it struck at 4:35am local time.

Glad you were not present my friend and that no major death occured with this one. First thing I thought about when I read that today in the papers online, was please don't let Becks be near that! Been a massive earthquake in a city on the South Island called Christchurch, I used to live there, and ironically don't remember ever experiencing an earthquake in the 3 years I was there, but heaps of small ones in the nearly two years I've been back on the North Island!
