Just keep the faith man and maybe the Priest will deliver another bad boy Painkiler type cd. Quality solos, vocals, bass, drums, quality songwriting ...ect. Ha! I agree that Hellrider is the best track on AOR, or maybe Judas Rising. NOBODY DELIVERS IT LIKE THE PRIEST | | J.D. DIAMOND wrote: | | Well,I guess for hellrider 31038 and Brian Evans if this next Judas Priest album isn't as strong and doesn't have the "Painkiller swagger" then the album will "suck".And thats ok,thats ok, I'm not saying that they can't have this opinion, thats fine and I get it. One word: "WOW".
Well, the 2 of you will be disappointed if it doesn't turn out like Painkiller but if it turns out great classic songs as heavy as "Judas Rising" or "Demonizer" or "Hellrider" with a few tracks as good as "Hell Bent For Leather" and "Freewheel Burning" with the Angel Of Retribution sound mixed with it's original sound I think 95% of fans will flip over it,I know I would.
Sure I'm a fan of "Painkiller" but I guess being into black metal and death metal from the early 80's the Painkiller album is rather "tame" compared to classic black metal releases. I don't think Judas Priest is really a "hard core" band, and I don't think the Painkiller album is "hard core" all the way through. Leather Rebel was not that far off of Defenders sound,Between The Hammer & The Anvil is basic classic Judas Priest as well as A Touch Of Evil,Battle Hymn and One Shot At Glory.Even Night Crawler has much melody over extreme hard heavy metal.
The 4 songs on Painkiller that are the most extreme heavy metal at it's limit are the tracks : "Painkiller,Hell Patrol,All Guns Blazing and Metal Meltdown and now I'm thinking Hell Patrol isn't as heavy as the other 3 mentioned. Even Jugulator wasn't blistering all the way through,I don't think that at age 60 the Metal Gods will deliver 10 straight tracks of the intensity of "Painkiller"(the song) or "Metal Meltdown" if they did "without going into thrash" then that would kick ass,but if they churn out tracks like "Between The Hammer And The Anvil" or "A Touch Of Evil" or "Wheels Of Fire" mixed with heavy ass tracks of quality without a Painkiller swagger then I'm ok with that.
We'll see with the first single from the new album whenever that may be,if its not Painkiller-like then Brian and hellrider31038 can save thier money and simply "not buy the album".Its that simple.Think of it this way,if the new album doesn't turn out like Painkiller then at least they can't take away the copy of Painkiller from you and you can pump Judas Priest's Painkiller and sell every other disc since they are not like Painkiller including "Unleashed In The East".
But We'll see what is delivered,I just think that now I have a better chance at getting a british heavy metal masterpiece with this next album because if it turns out like Angel Of Retribution or Defenders Of The Faith then I'll be in the same spot that Nostradamus fans are in now,I always envy those Nostradamus fans because "to them" they received a masterpiece from my favorite band that has more albums than just "Painkiller".....Judas Priest!!!
