It's likely that bisons produce as much methane as cows, or maybe more due to their bigger size. And yeah, there were huge numbers of them before good ol' Man nearly hunted them down to extinction, so lots of methane must have been present in the Great Plains waaay back in the day.
I also heard that global warming occured more than once throughout Earth's history, before humans came around. One period in particular that had a high amount of greenhouse gases was the Jurassic period (or was it Triassic? I don't remember). So...could it mean that the dinosaurs also farted? I live near cow farms. now, if GHG is true, did bison produce methane at the rate of cows? there used to be a hell of a lot of bison around.

Yup. I read about that a while back. Their flatulence contains high levels of methane, one of the so-called "greenhouse gases". Have you ever seen a cow farm? It's basically a methane-producing factory.

I read cow farts were being blamed for global warming a while ago.

Nah, not really. Cows and calves fart all the time. If it were "Once upon a time there was a cow that shot fire from its butthole...", then that would be pretty cool. And so would, "Once upon a time there was a guy who was known as 'The Rickroller Extraordinaire' ". (Quoting Message by _strat_ from Monday, September 20, 2010 10:18:03 PM)

I think I know of one such person...
"Once upon a time there lived a farting calf..."
Wouldnt that be a great story?

See? It would make your grandkids pay attention to you. I mean, who wouldn't want to know what it's like to go to the supermarket in a canoo? Or why?

Nice looking? Well, I suppose... Story to tell my grandchildren: "When I was your age, I had to go to the supermarket in a canoo!"

Now there's a nice looking flood. Too bad it killed three people and gobbled up your basement, Strat. At least you're in one piece.
Somewhat better than those pics... This is actualy taken on the bus route that I take every day... Unfortunately, the water has already subsided, and it means I have to go to work tomorrow...
