I'm from a right to work state. Unions exist but are not very influencial anymore.
I rememer when I was a child watching the news on months long miner strikes. The media always went and found the miner who lived in a cabin with an outhouse, who was the most uneducated person to find in the area.
For that reason alone I'm glad that VA, and finally WV, are right to work states. Got tired of people thinking just because of the state I was from when we vacationed north that we all lived on hilltops past Richmond and all have nothing but farms. I really hated that dated opinion of our state. Unfortunately, that opinion is still out there. Not so much for VA but WV is the laughing stock of the U.S. Glad my plates read VA. sounds good. I am on the company side of our negotiations, started with a 2 day set in july, had 2 days set in september, but we fired 2 of the three barganing comitee members inbetween, and they were the ones with the most issues, so we agreed to cut the september dates to one day. next is 2 in December. hope we get somewhere, I think as of now we have either agreed or agreed to withdraw 4 of 83 uniton proposals and 1 of 4 company proposals. at this rate the deal will be done about the same time as my pension starts.

Good morning fellow Metalheads
Well, it's finally over with!! As most of you know I'm a union negotiator at the plant I work at. We've been in negotiations for a new contract since March and it's now a done deal!! The ratification vote was about 92% in favor of, which, to me, is vindication of the comittees hard work. In this day and age when unions are getting weaker, every contract gets harder and harder to make gains on. Fortunately, we made no concessions anywhere and made gains all across the board.
Now that this is over with, I can now come out and play a little more and Bev can quit rolling her eyes at me lol!!
