I've never been to the states but in Canada the toilets are filled almost to the top with water so that when you flush it creates a whirlpool effect, In NZ there is only a small amount of water in the bottom of the bowl so the flush is created throuh a large amount of water smashing down on the offending substance, so our toilets rely on just the power of the flush going down, not in any particular direction [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Tuesday, November 16, 2010 11:45:53 PM)

I do appreciate the effort, though. I remember when the Simpsons go to Australia, they had a super-expensive device in the US Embassy to make their toilets flow clockwise so it must be true.

Just for you Guido, I just went and flushed my toilet for investigative purposes. Amongst all the rushing water, which seemed to be going in no particular direction, I noted that it appeard to be swirling counter clockwise. I can't be sure though.
