Well,u might as well steer clear of what i suggested!
Thought i'd try, but, this stuff is not for everyone!I understand that!
Me,i love it,i got so tired of listening to the same ol stuff over and over for the last 20+ yrs that i needed something different and exciting!
I wish i was more openminded a few years back and got into it sooner, but, better late than never!
So i remembered a few years back J.D. posting stuff about those bands!
Gave them a try and,at first the vocals were harsh, but the music,it blew me away!
So as of now, that is all i listen too,i love stuff that most people cannot stand!
Anyways:

I hate to listen to a song I can not hear the words to. In my opinion, if the vocals don't stand out that is because the vocalist is crap.. | | The Metallian wrote: | | Looking for some good metal, check out some European Black and Death Metal! | | spapad wrote: | | You wont get much defense from me on Priest. But, we dont' know the reasons for this being cut so short. Something had to have happened for them to just come out and quit with a world tour and NO new music. I still pray Epitaph has at least some new songs on it. I would not mind a final greatest hits if they laced it with a few new songs. I'm like all Priest fans. WHY!!!! No new CD to tour with. Hurts my feelings like nothing else and they talked like we would get that.
Something must have happened.
As for Disturbed, as long as their putting out ass kickin' metal! And have the record companies behind them, I say let them kick our asses! | | jimmyjames wrote: | | Priest absolutely do cash grab tours in America. On their Nostradamus tour they only played two songs from the album, the British Steel tour was a cash grab and so is Epitaph the tour in support of the idea of not doing any more tours. You only have to read some of the comments on this site in recent months to see how they are pissing off a lot of their fans with a lack of new product and substandard product, particularly Halford with all his reissuing of Fight/Halford material and live albums. I applaud Disturbed for what they are doing and it's great they are having mainstream success. All I said was they are a commercial metal band ie a product. No harm in that. So are Maiden, so are Metallica, so is Ozzy etc. | | spapad wrote: | | I would not say Priest does a cash grab in America. Afterall, it that were true each concert hall would be filled to capasity. NO.
Send me some links on the underground bands you speak of, I would love to hear them.
Disturbed is an excellent metal band and I love what they put out. They did not sell out, they just had the right promotion and a great sound. They accomplished what few bands do today. They were in the top 200 sales for U.S. for over a year, and at the top when Indestructable came out. They are the future of American Metal. IMO. | | jimmyjames wrote: | | All the best metal is coming out of Europe these days. The big American Metal bands like Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold are just a product. In saying that though, there are some great, great metal bands coming out of the States, they are just more underground and you have to look around a bit to hear their stuff. Some of these bands have been around for years but have remained under the radar rather than take the commercial road like Disturbed and co have. However you do have to give it to Disturbed, they are taking metal to a wider audience. They are over here in May actually and have toured a few times. So they are definately promoting metal in all corners of the world and reaching out to fans everywhere. Unlike Priest who tend to specialise in cash grab U.S tours trading on music they released 20+ years ago. |
