You're absolutely right, brother. He is far and above ANYONE in his genre AND age bracket..and that INCLUDES Coverdale and Plant!!!!! I saw Whitesnake twice in '09 and, while Coverdale remains one of my favorite vocalists, he was struggling by the time they got here to Vegas. He kept ducking into a little "tent' on stage left and drinking what looked like a bottle of something. I believe he had to cancel the shows right after that night.

Halford stands alone. No doubt. One of the ICONS of music, not just Metal. As we have all acknowledged, the wear and tear on his voice is evident and expected. He is not a young man and he has really worked his voice beyond anything a "normal" singer could ever do. Sometimes I have difficulty remembering that. I hear him do certain songs and a part of me is disappointed because he cannot do what he did back when I first saw him in 1979. Even in the 80's and early 90's.  There are so many fans that simply will not concede that he is not the singer he was. They insist that he "still hits all the notes" and that is just not so.

At the end of the day, Rob Halford is the greatest. I say that and I mean it. There will be other opinions and I respect the right of anyone to have one but, for me, Rob is the End All. The best.
