You left me out of that statement, JJ. I have been around and watching Priest / Halford since JD and Bud and I couldn't disagree more. The Priest concert in Hammond, IL (Chicago) was one of the most earth-shaking performances of any band I have seen. Halford claims to have given up smoking and I say that he has never been stronger. Only thing close was Painkiller Tour, IMO. Adding Richie to the mix, while not KK, was a genuine treat.
"Energetic" is a subjective term but, damn, were they on top of their game in Hammond. "Halford can hardly walk" is WAY off the mark. IMHO, at least. I just hope some bootleg will surface from that show to help prove the point.
But you have nothing to compare their live performance to Vail. The only time you've seen them has been in the last few years. Ask guys like JD and Budred who saw them in the 80s when they were at their peak and they'll tell you that this band is in decline and anyone who tells you Halfords voice is as good as ever is just lying. His high vocals are completely shot to hell. He doesn't scream any more, he screeches. And if you call Priests performance "energetic" then I'd hate to see a band who you thought were lethargic. Halford can hardly walk now, hobbling around, hunched over the mike trying to read the teleprompter and screeching two cats stapled together. They've got nothing left. They were once my favourite band but over the last few years I just can't be bothered.

Hey, it could be worse. The band could've made an album with Lou Reed.
I do agree with JD in that JP is misusing their time somewhat, as they could've done a new album first and then do their final tour. However, I don't agree with JJ nor Budred about the live performances. Judas Priest have been nothing short of incredible as far as live acts go. Nobody that I've seen live so far has delivered a performance as energetic, aesthetically pleasing, professional, and complex as JP has. In fact, I wish they could continue touring even if Rob ends up in a wheelchair. At least it would be decorated with spikes and skulls and shoot flames from the back. Plus they have Richie now. New blood=new ideas=higher possibility of a kickass album.
