Mom's answer was back and quick. I quote: "GO PAM!!!" (verbatim). Added in that someone with a brain actually sees the larger dangers for the field.
I had to quote her words as she wrote them as she is not one for caps nor exclamation marks. I think we can say that she is 101% in your corner on this issue.

That's a bunch of bullshit. They want their office visit $$$, and you know a specialist gets even more than your regular doc, so what $100+ to walk in and poke your stomach and write a script?
Here is the thing, I absolutely believe that EVERYONE should have good healthcare and not be denied. Having said that, the government can't even run itself, how the fuck is it going to run healthcare??? Yeah, it isn't. Just talked to my director and he said that EVERY hospital our size will lose $20-30 million per YEAR due to lack of reimbursement when Obamacare starts next year. So, everyone will be allowed healthcare, but there will be NO HOSPITALS to go to, because with lack of reimbursement, they will all fold!!! I'll be out of a job because the lab can't run without money! Our instruments and reagents aren't free you know! Look at every country with socialized medicine - everyone pays a shit ton in taxes, like 50% to PAY FOR IT! Oh, but not here. Sorry, you can't have something and expect not to pay for it! I sure as hell don't want to pay 50% of my paycheck for it!! Guido, ask your mom, I'm very interested in her take on this where the lab is concerned and tell her I said HI.. .

Any fool could have said "antibiotics" without needing me to actually see him again. Add in the cost of the Rx? Pushing $300. Fastest way to run into debt in this country. Healthcare.

same thing happens here, the doctors call you in to tell you your tests were fine, they just send the whole bill to the government, not just part... | | guidogodoy wrote: | | I'll throw in something very solid to the argument. I just had bloodwork done which came up perfect. Still, my regular physician preemptively sent me to a gastro. +$40 copay + three hours of my time. Both his nurse, him and me were scratching our heads about why I was sent to a gastro specialist with normal bloodwork. Still 3 hours waiting + $40. Odd thing was that night I went for a 7 mile run. Felt great until AFTER the run. Sparing the details, it got me back to the gastro again as I was really feeling ill (caught something in his office is my guess!). +$40 today plus $175 Rx as they weren't covered on my Rx plan. Doc only poked my stomach asking where it hurt and prescribed a general antibiotic! $40 for THAT?! WTF!!
I could only imagine what he REALLY made on both visits. Even better? I get a monthly phonecall today from some idiot who has the unfortunate task of asking about my health. THEY call but put me on hold for 20 minutes to only ask if I have any questions about my health. Only one I could think of was "why are you calling me...it raises my blood pressure." Bureaucracy at its finest. US healthcare system (aka Obamacare) SUCKS!!!
