Yes I do remember that haha. Your man has good taste lol. Mind you, marmite from the UK is a bit different to the marmite we get here. Spread thinly on crackers or bread, yum. I can't answer why it is black sorry, that makes it look scarier than it is haha.
Becks.............remember ages ago we (you me and Devi's Chlld) had a conversation about Marmite and I came down firmly on the antiMarmite, I'm afraid of that stuff side of things. Now, I have a jar of it in my pantry. NO, I do not eat it but my man likes it and stuck a jar in my pantry so it's always there. I've smelled it and it's a really strong yeast smell. I just can't get myself to take a bit of it. For instance, WHY is it the color it is? It's some scary shit.
