Look, the way I feel about it is that Priest with Halford is what I know, what I first heard, what I grew up with...it's as simple as that!!!!

I don't have anything but respect for Tim Owens and what he tried to do with Priest.  If any of us could sing and would have been give the chance, we'd have done the same thing he did and we would have done it regardless of what the masses thought...it's Priest for Pete's sake...who wouldn't??

All this shit talk about Tim Owens is better this better that is just that, shit talk...and Tim would tell anyone the same damn thing...no real priest fan would think any different!!!!!!

Anyone who thinks Tim actually replaced Rob is obviously messed up in the head...he kept Rob's mike warm is all...it's all he or anyone else could have done...and he did it well...but that's all he did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[J.D. DIAMOND] Friday, August 21, 2009 4:34:53 AM

I liked "Jugulator"...there were only 1 or 2 tracks that I didn't care for and Ripper on the Jugulator tour had a heavy metal image......

....what happened to it on the Demolition tour? It may have nothing to do with the  music, but Ripper Owens wearing a fucking

baseball hat on the Live In London DVD... WTF? lol! I was just thinking to myself....hummm is he going to pitch me a strike or

sing some metal? LOL! Totaly "LAME" untraditional image Ripper had with the Demolition tour.  Just that "image" alone ruined it

for me and I never got the DVD. And most importantly....the Demolition album was very poor song writting and I do not blame that

on Ripper...that was Glenn and K.K.  just terrible song writting...Machine Man,One On One,Hell Is Home were all 3 good tracks but

the other tracks to me are awful and I've listened to them many times trying to get something out of the album but no dice...I absolutely

can not tolerate "Demolition".  I guess the "baseball hat" image fit with those crappy songs!!!!! lofl!!!

I am very much a fan of Ripper, and Live In London is a great DVD/album. He can sing the songs very well, but of course, he's a very talented singer! But, there is a little something missing when someone other than Rob sings Priest songs. Its that inexplicable something that you cant quite put your finger on, but you do know what it is. I am glad that Priest continued on with Ripper instead of just folding. The did not deserve to fall to the wayside just because Rob decided to leave, and while I still believe Ralf Scheepers would have been the ideal replacement, I have no complaints with Ripper's performance while he was in Priest. He recorded two great albums with them, and he was great live. My first time seeing Priest live was with Ripper on vocals, and it was a great gig! While for me, Rob definitely is the voice of Priest, and I think it was right that he reunited with them, I have nothing but praise for Ripper. He took on the mammoth task of trying to replace Halford, and while he didnt quite manage to do that, he did a great job, and will forever be a part of the Judas Priest legacy.

I also love the two albums Ripper made when he joined Iced Earth. I was/am a big Matt Barlow fan, but he came in, and stamped his own mark on that band. And yes, the latest album with Barlow is imo at least, inferior to the two albums with Ripper. It is a shame he has been treated a bit like just a hired hand, he deserves better than that. His solo album is okay, but I think a man of his talents deserves to be in a major band. And both his solo album and Beyond Fear fall short of that for me.

Yes Live in London is awesome, one of the best versions od VOC ever recorded. That note at the end is amazing.

Oh MY GOD!! Did you actually  muster up the energy to make a post that did not have "Ripper" in it? Well, let me faint! LOL
Funny though, you still could not say anything really positive about priest on their own web site, that is the problem with you,
Ya know!? Get the point?

I bought Priest Live In london recently. Up until then the only Ripper era songs I'd heard were the ones on the Priest box set

I was pleasantly surprised by Live In London. I think Tim did a steller job on a lot of the songs (and on this album he sings Painkiller far far better than Rob does in A Touch Of Evil Live). He's also great on The Ripper (to be expected!) I like his versionof The Sentinal as well.

But songs like Breaking The Law, Metal Gods and Victim Of Changes are so unique to Rob and it's hard to accept anyone else singing them.

However, I've got a lot of time for Tim. He held the fort well and I admire him a lot. The two Iced Earth albums he sung on were great  and I was sorry when he got ousted. The follow up album with Barlow back was poor.

I'm glad Tim is doing his own stuff. He's got the talent not to be a hired hand.

keeping with the tv series analogies...
the power rangers couldn´t beat Rita or Lord Seth unless they were all together and only together they could call for and use the megazord, so...  rob glenn ian kk and now scott would be like the power rangers,  without the megazord and the super powers...  and numero uno would be Rita (?)
[Angelic Storm] Thursday, August 20, 2009 11:15:37 AM
Yep, thats exactly it. Its the combination. Especially KK, Glen and Rob together. It was a similar thing with the Halford band. Great band, and very good musicians, but without KK, Glen and Ian, there was something missing. Halford on his own, is not special, and Priest without Rob are not special. Priest with Ripper, like the Halford band, were very good, but nothing special. Only when Rob is with Priest, does something magical happen.

I think you hit the nail on the head there.  only with rob are they something special.  its not rob that makes them special, its the combination.  Rob, Glen, KK and Ian (with many drummers) have proven themselfs to be special.  with tim, they are ok, but its not the same.

I would agree with you that Nostradamus isn't classic Priest. Well, some songs I would place in that category, but not the whole album. Priest have always been about pushing the boundaries though, and being unpredictable. And in that sense, Nostradamus IS classic Priest, because it continues in that tradition. I dunno how you can use that as an arguement though, when neither Jugulator or Demolition are classic Priest either. I love both albums, but they are not classic Priest. I am a Priest fangirl, I wouldnt deny that, especially when it comes to Priest with Halford. But I still appreciate the Ripper albums very much. Halford however, is and always will be, the definitive voice of Priest, and only with him in the band are they something truly special.

"Nostradamus" is not "classic Priest" .....unless you compare it with "Jugulator or Demolition" with Tim "Ripper"Owens vocals on it....then it is classic Priest.

And your "fanboy" crap is a joke.....just because everybody isn't kissing your ass(like you knew they wouldn't) it makes everybody in here a "fanboy".

Why do you come here? For what? The day you joined you only did it to stir shit up ect.....I'm only posting again for somebody new here so that they

see what an idiot you are.  Hellrider is right...there is no need for name calling....except when its me calling you a name you deserve!!!  lofl!!!!

Now round up your calvery and move it on outta here you clinking clanking clattering collection of coliginous oh I can't stop laughing to finish the post!!!! lofl!!!!!
