Absolutely correct Jimmy. That was "brilliant" and like 90% of your posts, I agree with EVERY thing you said here. You see, this is what happens when Zakk Wylde gets kicked out: Ozzy gets to do whatever he freaking wants, and this just sounds and looks terrible. Though to be fair I thought it was a tribute to Sharon. EVILE Announces New Bassist - Dec. 16, 2009 |
|
British thrashers EVILE have revealed the identity of their new bassist, who joins the band following the tragic and untimely death of their late bassist, Mike Alexander.
Mike Alexander passed away on October 5, 2009 while the band was on tour in Sweden.
EVILE members Matt Drake, Ol Drake and Ben Carter have released the following statement:
"This has been one of the most bizarre and surreal tasks we've ever had to undertake. It isn't like Mike has decided to leave the band and we're simply finding a new bass player. He was taken from us, and we were forced to replace him. In effect, we had to look for a new Mike, but that would never happen. He was one of a kind, and we'll never forget him.
"We had hundreds upon hundreds of emails from bass players from around the world (though we can only realistically have a bassist from the U.K.), and we want to thank everyone for taking the time out to contact us, and the people who came to jam with us.
"We only had a certain amount of time to actually audition/jam with bass players before the upcoming tours, to get time in for rehearsing the songs, getting visas sorted etc.
"Our new bass player goes by the name Joel Graham. He's an excellent, experienced bass player, and a really nice guy.
"We'd all appreciate it if you gave him a warm welcome to the band, as this must be a bizarre situation for him to be in also.
"We'll be getting some photos taken with him soon so you can see us with Joel. We just wanted to get the news out there that we have a new bassist, and that we thank each and every person for auditioning. Mike would be honoured at the amount of respect and admiration you expressed to us through contacting us."
EVILE is set to kick off a headlining European tour in January. The "Infecting Nations" trek will start with a run of U.K. shows before the band heads off to mainland Europe. Joining EVILE on the tour will be American thrashers WARBRINGER and Israel's THE FADING.

New Sebastian Bach Song "Live The Life"
Live the Life:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bisUsBazT6k
Fan-filmed video footage of former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach and his solo band performing a brand new song called "Live The Life" on December 13, 2009 at Pakkahuone in Tampere, Finland can be viewed below.
Bach's current solo band includes guitarists Nick Sterling and Johnny Chromatic, drummer Bobby Jarzombek and bassist Rob DeLuca.
Bach recently stated about his new bandmates: "I can't tell ya how happy I am with my band and my new guitar player Nick Sterling! This dude is gonna blow you all away! He plays incredible and we got some new jams that will kick your ass! The whole band is rockin' and we can't wait to see you all LIVE on tour!!"
Bach and DANKO JONES will support GUNS N' ROSES on their upcoming Canadian tour in January/February.
Dominick Tancredi will play bass for Bach on December 21 in Moscow, Russia.
Sebastian recently collaborated with HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta on several tracks for Bach's new solo album, with Nick and Charlie Bellmore of the Connecticut band PHANTOMS assisting during the pre-production process. The singer has also written material with John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON).
Bach is best known for selling 20 million albums as the former lead singer of SKID ROW. He has gone on to star on Broadway and television, including five seasons on CW's "Gilmore Girls", as well as hit shows on VH1, MTV and CMT. Bach's most recent studio project was "Angel Down", his first solo album since 1999. The record features 14 songs with a guest appearance by GUNS N' ROSES front man Axl Rose on three cuts, including a blistering version of AEROSMITH's "Back In The Saddle".

Legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) was diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer and is currently receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic. His wife/manager Wendy Dio has issued the following update on Ronnie's condition:
"Well, it has been a very exhausting month. After all the never-ending tests in Los Angeles, we flew to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and as soon as we arrived, we got a call from the MD Anderson Hospital that they had an appointment for us with the doctor we originally wanted, so we then flew to Houston to the clinic, and, of course, MORE tests, but Ronnie finished receiving his first chemo treatment on Wednesday, and all is going very well.
"I would like to thank Tony Martell from the T.J. Martell Foundation, Dr. Stuart Aaronson from Mount Sinai, Lindsay Brown and Mike Carden from Eagle Records, and our very own Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, for all your help in getting us into MD Anderson, and also our friends Geezer and Gloria Butler, who flew to Houston to be with Ronnie while he had his chemo.
"Ronnie and I are totally overwhelmed by the amount of well wishes that we have received from friends and fans — we are reading them all. Some make us laugh, some make us cry, but all of them are so filled with love that it gives us so much support and makes Ronnie even more determined to fight this battle and win.
"Thank you all for the positive energy and prayers."
According to a posting on the BLACK SABBATH fan site Black-Sabbath.com, fans can send get-well cards to Ronnie James Dio through the official fan club address:

Additionally, if you'd like to send an email to Ronnie, you can do so via [email protected]. After a short time, Black-Sabbath.com webmaster Joe Siegler will print them out and pass them over to Ronnie and Wendy Dio.
Dio, 67, has performed with ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and his own band DIO. Other musical projects include the collective fundraiser "Hear 'n Aid". He is widely hailed as one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal, renowned for his consistently powerful voice and for popularizing the "devil's horns" hand gesture in metal culture. He is currently involved with HEAVEN & HELL, a project which also includes Iommi and other former BLACK SABBATH bandmates Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice.

KK Downing Video Blog
A new guitar-related video blog from JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing filmed few weeks ago in Finland has been posted on his official YouTube channel. Check out K.K. introducing a classic instrument from the past below.
JUDAS PRIEST's August 17, 2009 performance at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida was filmed for a DVD that will be included in a forthcoming expanded 30th-anniversary edition of their 1980 classic, "British Steel".
As they have done at all of their U.S. summer dates this year, PRIEST performed the "British Steel" album in its entirety at the Seminole Hard Rock Arena.
JUDAS PRIEST kicked off its "British Steel" 30th-anniversary tour on June 29 at the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis, Indiana. Halford told Noisecreep, "It's like suddenly, thirty years have come upon us and we're about to celebrate. The album's technical anniversary is April of next year, but want to start the party early."
Halford added, "In today's economy, all artists have to think of something to do differently. We decided that this would be a great opportunity to do something that PRIEST has never done before, which is to play an album in its entirety. The band and the name 'JUDAS PRIEST' have both been around since 1969, so it is our fortieth anniversary, too. We seem to be in a constant celebration mode!"

Dimebag Tribute Album Info Released
The complete track listing has been revealed for the forthcoming "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott (PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN) tribute album, which will be released on the cover of the 200th issue of U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. The CD and the magazine, which will coincide with the five-year anniversary of Dimebag's passing, will be made available on December 16.
The "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott tribute album will include the following artists/cuts:
01. ZAKK WYLDE - "Suicide Note Pt. 1"
02. MACHINE HEAD - "Fucking Hostile"
03. MALEFICE - "I'm Broken"
04. AVENGED SEVENFOLD - "Walk"
05. EVILE - "Cemetery Gates"
06. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH - "A New Level"
07. BIOHAZARD - "Mouth For War"
08. SYLOSIS - "Strength Beyond Strength"
09. CHIMAIRA - "Slaughtered"
10. UNEARTH - "Sandblasted Skin"
11. THROWDOWN - "Becoming"
12. KIUAS - "This Love"
13. THIS IS HELL - "Rise"
AVENGED SEVENFOLD's "Walk" audio stream:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7PIhpySka4&feature=player_embedded#at=62
MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn told Metal Hammer about the band's decision to cover the "Vulgar Display Of Power" classic "Fucking Hostile", "It was either that or 'Strength Beyond Strength' from 'Far Beyond Driven'. In the end, we decided that we wanted to do a classic. We chose 'Fucking Hostile' because it’s two and a half minutes of pure, raging metal. It's short, fast and brutal."
He continued, "There's some real intricate riffing parts in there. We'd jammed it before but we'd never sat down and analyzed it properly. I think we did a great job on it."
The song by EVILE turned out to be bassist Mike Alexander's very last and was recorded just before he himself died of a pulmonary embolism, a blockage of an artery in the lung, on October 5, 2009 while on tour with the band in Sweden.
"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was co-founder and lead guitarist for PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, Dimebag and his brother Vinnie Paul formed DAMAGEPLAN. On Dec. 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. He was 38 years old.

New Upcoming ACDC DVD
According to 10Musica.com, AC/DC's three sold-out shows at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina on December 2, 3 and 6 (65,000 capacity each) will be filmed for a future DVD release. Additional footage at the stadium will be shot on Saturday, December 5 without the presence of an audience.
AC/DC arrived in Buenos Aires on Sunday, November 29.
AC/DC released a limited-edition box set called "Backtracks" on November 10. The set, which comes in two versions, was made available only through the ACDCBacktracks.com web site. As previously speculated, the "deluxe" package is housed inside a fully operational AC/DC amplifier and comes in a limited, autographed run of 50,000 copies. Included in the set are three CDs of live and studio rarities, two DVDs, a vinyl LP also containing studio rarities, a 164-page coffee table book, fine art lithographs of rare photos, a reproduction of an early AC/DC concert flyer and other memorabilia, including a button, guitar pick, and more.
A standard edition features two CDs of live and studio material, a single DVD plus bonus videos.
The first DVD is the long-awaited video compilation "Family Jewels 3", which rounds up the group's music videos, live performances, and promotional clips from 1992 to 2009. The second DVD, "Live At The Circus Krone", captures a complete club show that the band played in Munich in 2003.
Among the studio rarities included in the set are alternate versions of a number of early AC/DC tracks, as well as the never-before-released "Love Song", possibly the only ballad the band ever wrote with original singer Bon Scott. |

Agree. They reckon that wankstain from Buckcherry is in line for the vocalist spot. When I was in Canada I saw Buckcherry open for Motley Crue, they were fucking abysmal. Imagine Aerosmith doing their 40th anniversary tour with him at the mike, embarrasing. Especially after 39 and half years with Tyler at the helm. They should do what Van Halen did when Hagar left and Priest should have done when Halford left. Get Gary Charone!!! If he's not available Deep Freeze could fill in.. Ov Hell Debut Album Info Released
OV HELL, the new black metal project featuring DIMMU BORGIR vocalist Shagrath and ex-GORGOROTH bassist King, has completed work on its debut album, "The Underworld Regime", for a February 2010 release via Indie Recordings. The CD was recorded at Earshot Studio and features Shagrath on vocals, King on bass, Frost (SATYRICON) on drums, Ice Dale (ENSLAVED) on guitar and Teloch (NIDINGR, GOD SEED) on guitar. The album was produced by Herbrand Larsen and mastered at the Livingroom studios by Espen Berg and Shagrath in November 2009. King composed all of the music for "The Underworld Regime", while Shagrath wrote all lyrics, with contributions from Silenoz and Sarah Owens.
"The Underworld Regime" track listing:
01. Devil’s Harlot
02. Post Modern Sadist
03. Invoker
04. Perpetual Night
05. Ghosting
06. Acts of Sin
07. Krigsatte Faner
08. Hill Norge
Commented Shagrath: "The majestic OV HELL has become a band that reflects our roots — raw, ugly, arrogantly blasphemous — with uncompromising truth from two influential Norwegian musicians needing to express our primitive side, straight out OV HELL."
Added King: "It's been a little hell to actually see this music form into a band, but when I'm now listening to the final result, it has been worth the hard work we have put into this album!"
Two rough-mix sample tracks from "The Underworld Regime" can be heard on the band's MySpace page.
In a recent interview with MetalNews.pl, King stated about OV HELL's debut album, "It is always hard to describe your own music and it usually ends up like meaningless self-promotion of your own album. It will, however, contain music most people would define as black metal. I'm not claiming we have reinvented the wheel, but I don't think have heard any band to date we could be seen as copycats of. I have not heard all the bands in the world and can, of course, be mistaken.
"The album will contain a mixture of our different musical preferences and the personalities involved, which hopefully will lead to something original and new. I have to say, though, that I am more occupied of developing myself spiritually and musically than strive to be viewed as original by fans."
"The will to relive 1994 in black metal these days should be against all that black metal is all about. Presenting others' art and ideas almost 15 years later, mostly based on nostalgic reflections, show that you don't have the capacity to adapt to your own chaos and so on develop to a strong individual unique being. Recycling your own ideas will show that you are not capable of change and in other words should be viewed as dead.
"A person who is not able to change opinions, learn from his mistakes and have the ability to grow and change should not shout for people's attention but be quiet.
"I am grateful that I have had musicians with me on this record that do NOT possess these qualities."

"I just hung up with him and he sounded great. The usual RJD, totally commited to 'killing the dragon,' and he will! He is not in pain, sounded great, and was ready to do what he has to do and get back on stage and sing like only he can!

He's already made a few changes to his diet that he said has helped him feel great and admitted his days of having a few drinks are mostl likely behind him.

When I first read the headlines, I couldn't think of anything more depressing than I'd heard in a while. But having read the statements hes made about fighting back, plus the fact that they caught it early, makes me feel much better. Get well soon RJD, we love you! Eddie Trunk, co-host of the VH1 Classic television program "That Metal Show" who has a long-running radio show, "Friday Night Rocks", on New York's Q104.3 FM, has posted the following message on his official web site:
"Just hung up the phone with both Wendy Dio and Ronnie James Dio himself.
"Obviously, the news was just released about Ronnie having stomach cancer. I was aware of this a number of days ago, but did not say anything public until Ronnie's camp was ready to release the news.
"As I have said in the past, Ronnie has always been one of my closest friends and biggest supporters over the many years we have worked together doing various things. We have a friendship far beyond just music and he being a musician and me being a host. So I have been in a knot over this news when I was first told about it around a week ago.
"The results of the many tests he has had were made known yesterday, so now he knows exactly what he is dealing with and will soon find out the course of action. The GREAT news is that it did not spread and is in an early stage!
"I just hung up with him and he sounded great. The usual RJD, totally commited to 'killing the dragon,' and he will! He is not in pain, sounded great, and was ready to do what he has to do and get back on stage and sing like only he can!
"It was great to have spent about 20 minutes on the phone with him and hear how positive he was and thankful for all the support from his many fans. He's already made a few changes to his diet that he said has helped him feel great and admitted his days of having a few drinks are mostl likely behind him.
"I will share what I can when I can, but know Ronnie is ready to fight and win, and anyone who knows the man knows he will succeed!
"Let's all continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers going forward for a speedy recovery. Yes, Ronnie is a great singer and icon for the music we love, but he is an even better person and I know he will beat this!"

ROB HALFORD Interviewed At Launch Party For 'New Super Mario Bros.' - Nov. 23, 2009 |
|
Rob Halford was interviewed by Ray Carsillo of 1050espn.com and ESPNvideogames.com when the JUDAS PRIEST singer attended the 25th anniversary celebration and launch party for New Super Mario Bros. at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center, New York City on November 12, 2009. Watch the footage below. (Note: The Halford portion begins around the three-minute, 30-second mark.)
"In JUDAS PRIEST, we actually play the games in the dressing room," said the singer. "Generally before a show. Just to get in the mood for the excitement and the energy for what we're gonna do. However, at our stately metal god time of life, we tend to do the Nintendo bowling. And the golfing. If there's any energy left after the show, we get into the boxing mode."
Halford — along with Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister ( MOTÖRHEAD) and Lita Ford — is part of the voice cast for the Brütal Legend game, which was made available last month for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and the PlayStation computer entertainment system.
Brütal Legend is a third-person action game rich in combat, imagery and storytelling, delivering lighter-flicking fun sure to melt your face off.
Brütal Legend tells the tale of Eddie Riggs, played by Jack Black. The ultimate roadie, Eddie is the first person anyone calls when they need guitars tuned or stages rigged, and has a love for hot rods and a photographic memory for every heavy metal album cover, and the lyrics those albums contained. One night, a stage accident knocks Eddie unconscious, and he awakens in a world that looks very strange yet oddly familiar, a world where every heavy metal album cover and lyric Eddie knows has come to life, and where the evil emperor Doviculus and his demon army, The Tainted Coil, have enslaved the last remaining humans. When an oppressed people request Eddie's knowledge of modern warfare, he pulls from his own experience in the only occupation he's ever had, a roadie for a heavy metal band, and under his command, this barbaric force of hot-rods, Marshall stacks, leather, and chrome will bring this ancient world into the age of metal.

They aren't rescheduling these dates- they're being refunded and everything. I'm so cross right now- not at Dio and co- its not his fault, just at the world in general for denying this poor gig-starved metalhead the chance to see one of the greatest metal frontmen ever!
Hope he gets well soon though. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazooka Joe from Wednesday, November 18, 2009 12:17:17 PM) | | Bazooka Joe wrote: | | Well they are doing the Canadian Carnage tour still. It got Rescheduled on account of Tom's neck surgery. Here's the Canadian dates:

That fuckin sucks man. I don't know why they build arenas and stadiums with shit acoustics when they know bands will eventually play there. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guitardude from Tuesday, November 17, 2009 8:43:39 PM) | | guitardude wrote: | | Heavy Metal Landmark Destroyed

Reunion Arena was the site where Judas Priest filmed the concert on the "Fuel for Life" Tour. Motley Crue also had a brief segment of the arena at the beginning of their "Home Sweet Home" video.
Reunion Arena was the choice arena for all touring bands while heavy metal reigned supreme. I personally have many fond memories there and I must admit that it saddened me to see the news footage of it coming down this evening.
The lights , sounds and atmosphere of Reunion really helped to make each show a little bit more special, now we have the "American Airlines Center" just a few minutes down the freeway for the big shows that come thru town. But at the AAC, the acoustics are horrible and the term "nosebleed section" takes on a whole new meaning as all of the balcony seats are this way.
So, to Reunion Arena, Goodbye Old Friend, it was a hell of a lot of fun. Thanks for the memories. Edited at: Tuesday, November 17, 2009 8:44:26 PM |

lol! I say take them back altogether, its a pretty cheesey sign to begin with really, but if the ridiculous hand sign must be done I guess it should be done by a heavy metal artist like Dio instead of a rap artist doing it or Britney Spears. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazooka Joe from Monday, November 16, 2009 2:21:49 PM) | | Bazooka Joe wrote: | | Take Back The Horns!
Motivated by what he calls the "systematic abuse" of the metal horns, heavy metal icon and frontman for the legendary band TWISTED SISTER, Dee Snider has launched a web site dedicated to the reclamation of our iconic heavy metal symbol, TakeBackTheHorns.com.
"The rampant misuse and overuse of the metal horns is an insult to true fans of the music form it represents," says Dee, "They were never intended to be thrown by members of the hip hop, country and pop communities. We fought long and hard for the music we love to be recognized. They have no right to use our sign!" ??
While absolutely recognizing the humor in the situation, TakeBackTheHorns.com is dedicated to not only raise awareness of this abuse, but the site has been designed to inform and educate the reader on the history and proper use of the metal horns. Dee Snider hopes it will unify the massive, heavy metal community in the fight to stop the metal horns' further exploitation and degradation. Says Dee, "I appreciate the appeal of throwing the horns and even acknowledge that its overuse shows just how far the acceptance of heavy metal has come as a music form. But when little Johnny throws the horns to his mom because he's successfully made a number two, things have gone way too far."
TakeBackTheHorns.com also contains a section for visitors to post photos of abusers of the horns and an interactive "Metal or Not" rating system to help define and decide the proper usage of the iconic symbol. ??
Dee goes on to say, "In the '80s, I went to Washington, D.C. to defend heavy metal and fight censorship. Now it's time for me to defend the music I love again and fight a very different enemy. I need headbangers the world over to join me in this important fight. Let's say to the purveyors of other music forms, the usurpers of our mark...get your own damn sign bee-otch! Let's take back the horns...dot com!" |

Reading that made me soo excited for the Dio gig next weekend! I've been so busy I hadn't really had time to think about it. Thanks for posting it! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazooka Joe from Sunday, November 15, 2009 8:39:39 PM) | | Bazooka Joe wrote: | | Ronnie James Dio Discusses Heaven & Hell's Future
Robert Gray of Ultimate-Guitar.com recently conducted an interview with legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio (HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW, DIO). A few excerpts from the chat follow below.
Ultimate-Guitar.com: When you reunited with Tony [Iommi] and Geezer [Butler], were you worried that a repeat of the "Dehumanizer" situation would occur?
Dio: No, no. We were very, very smart about the way we dealt with things, and I think we learnt lessons from what had happened to us before, with the two break ups before that. I think it's a pretty good indication that we want to play in a band together, and that it's something we do a lot, because we keep getting back together again. But yeah, I think we took it really slowly. We didn't make plans to do something that we couldn't deliver, either to ourselves, or to someone we'd promised to do something, say a tour or whatever. We didn't make these long term plans, and that allowed a lot of mistakes not to happen. Again, we've all grown up a lot. We really appreciate each other more than we ever did before, and we were always good friends — that was never a problem. Contrary to what people may believe, we never had arguments. In fact, I don't remember ever having an argument. Of course, nothing physical ever happened, so it seems really odd that we did break up that many times. I guess a lot of it was because of some political things that were going on, and again, we were younger, and did things that we shouldn't have done. So yeah, there's always that thought in the back of your mind, if this could happen again, and if this will be another "Dehumanizer" situation. We're not allowing that to happen though; we have communication now, we talk, and we really, really spend a lot of time together, which was something we didn't do before. Because of all the lessons that we learnt from the past, I don't worry about that ever happening. If it did happen, I think we're confident enough in the things that we did in the past, and the things that we can still do without each other, so it wouldn't be the end of the world. But we really, genuinely enjoy making music together, and being around each other, so I don't see that happening. We're too cautious about it now.
Ultimate-Guitar.com: How does the chemistry within the DIO band differ to the chemistry within HEAVEN & HELL?
Dio: Well, I think one of the differences is that I'm a lot more in control of my own situation because it is the DIO band, and I can make a lot of decisions that are mine and mine alone. With SABBATH, we're very democratic. We don't do things behind each others' backs, and unless we all agree to it, it doesn't happen. That sometimes can make life a little bit more difficult if I don't agree with the decision of the other two, but that's the way we've set it up, so that's the way it works. So far, I've not seen any problems with that. So really, it's the difference between having a little bit more of a — certainly not a dictatorship, but let's put it that way anyway — a little bit more of a dictatorship, and a whole lot more democracy in SABBATH. That's really the difference in the chemistry. As far as the people go, we are all different people. Tony and Geezer have done this for such a long time, and I've known them for such a long time, with all the things we've done together. We share different experiences in the DIO band, and life is made of all those experiences. Our experiences in the DIO band bring us close together, with the things we have done, and the things we're about to do. All the things we've done in SABBATH, HEAVEN & HELL, whatever we're gonna call it, those are different experiences, but yet they're all enjoyable ones. As far as chemistry goes, there's no lack of chemistry on either side. It's just as I said before; it's more my decision with the DIO band, and much more democratic the other way.
Ultimate-Guitar.com: You also recorded some voice work for "Brütal Legend", but unfortunately those parts weren't used. What are your thoughts on that?
Dio: I was looking forward to seeing the finale, and it was very interesting to do. We went to a place called Skywalker Ranch, which is where George Lucas' original studio was. A brilliant place, with memorabilia everywhere. There was a great atmosphere, and I enjoyed doing it, but at the end of the day, it just didn't work out. Perhaps my voice characterization wasn't what they were looking for. It's not what I do, truthfully. They asked, and I thought it was interesting to be a part of, but at the end of the day, if it wasn't right, then it wasn't right. At the end of the day, I don't harbour any bad feelings about that at all. It doesn't matter to me.
Ultimate-Guitar.com: Some have added two and two together, and have come up with five, alleging that your parts weren't used because Ozzy (Osbourne) contributed to "Brütal Legend", and supposedly didn't want you to be a part of the project. What are your thoughts on that rumor?
Dio: I've heard that rumor, and people do put two and two together, or sometimes put two and two together and it equals five, so perhaps they're wrong about that. I don't accuse anyone unless I know exactly what's going on. I don't know if that's the case. It certainly seems coincidental, I must admit. It does. I'm not gonna throw the blame to anyone, though. Perhaps that wasn't the reason, and perhaps it wasn't because Ozzy was a part of it. Again, it just doesn't bother me at all. I'm very thick-skinned when it comes to that, and I don't really care if they did that. If someone did do that, then I think it just shows small-mindedness, but I'm not gonna accuse anyone till I know what's going on.
Ultimate-Guitar.com: Do you see yourself recording a new HEAVEN & HELL album?
Dio: Yeah. I think so — I do think so. I think we'll probably tour a little bit first in the interim time. Of course, we're dealing with Tony's hand at the moment too. We would've been touring more with HEAVEN & HELL, and probably wouldn't even have organized this DIO tour, if it hadn't been for the fact that Tony has tendon problems in his hand, and had to be operated on. That gave me the time to do this that we're talking about now, which is the tour, and working more on "Magica". At the moment, we're waiting to see how Tony's hand is going to recuperate. We have no plans to break this up. I think we're all excited about doing another album at some point. I don't think we want to rush into it right now, but perhaps during this time off, between Tony's recovery and us getting back together with HEAVEN & HELL, we'll be able to get together and write some more songs. We can do that, certainly. To answer your question, yeah, I think we will.
Ultimate-Guitar.com: How does the future of the DIO band look?
Dio: I think it looks really good. Once again, as I said before, there are people in this band who really, really want to be in this band, and who really love the music that we make. They love the majesty of it, the bigness of it, sometimes the heaviness of it, and just all the great songs that have been done from year to year. Those songs never die; they're fun for me to play after all these years, and they're certainly fun for Rudy [Sarzo] and Simon [Wright] and Craig [Goldy] to play, and they do such a wonderful job of it. It has a great future, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not trying to take away from what I'll be doing with HEAVEN & HELL, because once I apply myself to HEAVEN & HELL, that's the only thing I'll focus on. As you suggested earlier though, in the back of my mind there's always that thought about the DIO band, because again, it's been such a big part of my life. It's given me such great songs to be able to play, and so many people who have made their way to this band as fans, and as friends. It's something that's never going to die, not in my mind, and it's something that I'll carry on and do.

I couldn't agree more with you to tell you the truth. Metallica is a flop sellout band that seems to get worse each year with each shit album. This shitty band is making Cliff roll over in his grave!! Well I DO like the idea of releasing different concerts on the DVDs.
Europe has the France concert.
Mexico has the Mexican one.
Canada has the Canadian one.
And each DVD has like 3 shows on it.
So we're getting 9 Metallica performances on DVD next year I guess. Official Metallica.com footage from the Mexico City concerts can be viewed below.
METALLICA has issued several DVDs in the past, including "Cliff 'Em All", "Cunning Stunts", "S&M With The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra" and "A Year And A Half".
According to MetOnTour.com, which is described as "your FREE virtual backstage pass to every METALLICA show," METALLICA will release a new DVD featuring footage from the band's Canadian performances in Quebec City, Quebec (October 31 and November 1) and Ottawa, Ontario (November 3). Drummer Lars Ulrich commented from the stage at the second Quebec City show, "I couldn't think of a better city for METALLICA to film a DVD." The concerts were filmed by the band's longtime friend and collaborator, famed video director Wayne Isham.
METALLICA has set November 23 as the release date for "Francais Por Une Nuit", or "French For One Night", the full-length concert DVD that the band filmed in Nimes, France on July 7, 2009. The show took place at a historic Roman amphitheatre called the Arenes de Nimes. In addition to the band's complete 18-song set, the disc also includes interviews with the group and five video clips shot by members of the audience. Although initially announced as a France-only release, fan demand has led to Metallica also making the set available through their web site, Metallica.com, as well as the site of the French branch of the band's record company.
A statement posted on the band's web site said, "ALL aspects of the project are French as the show was filmed, recorded, and edited with French camera and recording crews, the artwork on the package and special box set (more on that in a minute!) were created by a French design team; even the credits are in French."
The DVD will come in three formats: standard DVD or Blu-ray in a digipack including a 16-page booklet, and a deluxe limited edition box set that includes the DVD, a copy of "Death Magnetic" on CD, a T-shirt, laminated pass, and five exclusive photos. |

Iron Maiden To Begin New Album
Guitarist Janick Gers of British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN revealed to BBC News that the band has already started writing songs for its 15th studio album. "We're going to Paris for three weeks to work on some new stuff," Gers said at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards 2009 on November 2 at the Park Lane Hotel in London, England. "The most important thing for a band is to create new music, otherwise you're not valid — you become a parody."
MAIDEN became the first outfit in history to travel round the world in a customized jet during their "Somewhere Back in Time" tour, as detailed in award-winning movie "Flight 666".
The Boeing 757 carried musicians, crew, gear and guests with singer Bruce Dickinson, a qualified airline pilot, at the controls.
Speaking in the Iron Maiden Fan Club magazine, IRON MAIDEN manager Rod Smallwood recently said, "It took a long time to set up the last tour because of the plane. It had never been done before and we didn't know what we were letting ourselves in for. The idea came a couple of years before that and we got into it a year ahead of the game.
"I'm starting to get my head round what we're going to do next summer. It hasn't been decided yet but we'll do something, so I've got to speak to promoters and agents.
"Now we know the plane works, by Christmas we'll have the pattern set. We'll probably be going for the plane and getting that held for us.
"But at the moment, the album's the key thing on the agenda. The guys will be getting together shortly and they're probably starting to get their heads round new ideas for songs individually. Some of them may meet up before we formally get together.
"We'll spend a period writing, we'll take Christmas off and then we'll get into recording. We'll finish the album in time for it to be out next year and I'm just getting my head round what we want to do touring-wise.
"We'll be doing some new places on the next tour. I won't tell you where they are - they're not finalized yet, but some work has been done. One place we can't play that we'd like to is Bolivia — the altitude is just too high for the type of physical performance the guys do. It's a shame." |

Ripper Owens to Sing for Aerosmith? Naa I'm just fuckin with ya's!
AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry told the Las Vegas Sun on Friday (November 6) that singer Steven Tyler quit the band following a recent concert in Abu Dhabi.
"Steven quit as far as I can tell," Perry said. "I don't know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don't know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don't know."
Part of the problem, Perry said, is that Tyler doesn't return his phone calls.
"He's notorious for that," Perry said. "That's one thing I've learned to live with. I try to overlook it. I like to pick my battles. Frankly, the last few months I've been wanting not to rock the boat. I don't want him canceling any more gigs. We really wanted to do these last four. We just kind of didn't want to call him out or anything and get him anymore pissed off, for whatever reason. So we just let things lie. So we did the gigs and, like I said, I got off the plane and saw this online. That's how I know about it."
Perry said he arrived home in Boston on Wednesday and read on the Internet that Tyler planned to leave the band.
"He has had no contact with me or the other band members," Perry said.
He says he hopes to keep AEROSMITH together, with or without Tyler, but he was so stunned by recent developments he doesn't know what's going to happen.
"Right now I'm adjusting to how we're going to go on," Perry said. "AEROSMITH is such a powerful band, I mean it's like a steam locomotive. You just can't disregard 40 years of four guys who play together as well as they do. We're just trying to — at least I am — trying to figure out what direction the band should take.
"As far as replacing Steve, it's not just about that, it's also four guys that play extremely well together, and I'm not going to see that go to waste. I really don't know what path it's going to take at this point, but we'll probably find somebody else that will sing in those spots where we need a singer and then we'll be able to move the Aerosmith up a notch, move the vibe up a notch."

MusicRadar.com: Of course, the other major thing that's happened in the last year has been your split with Ozzy...
Zakk: "Well, I'll tell you how it went down. This is how it went down. Oz and mom (Sharon Osbourne), they said, 'Zakk, son, we need to talk to you.' They sat me down at the kitchen table and said, 'Zakk, we're very proud of you, but you're 42 years old now. We just think it's about time you take your wife and your kids and you get the fuck outta your bedroom and grow the fuck up and get a job — because me and your mother want to enjoy our life now. I think we've done enough. You're 42, now get the fuck out of the house!'"
MusicRadar.com: And make something of yourself.
Zakk: "Yes! So that's where we're at right now. [laughs] That's what happened. As rough as it was for me, I had to accept it." [laughs]
MusicRadar.com: Now, I know Ozzy is like family to you, but when it all did happen - I know you were kind of kidding — it seemed to take people surprise...
Zakk: "Well, I found out from Neil Zlozower, 'cause he was doing a photo shoot with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. He calls up and goes, 'Hey dude, I hear you're not playing with Ozzy anymore.' I go, 'Where'd you hear this?" And he's like, 'I heard it from Gene and Paul.' So I go, 'Well, I guess I'm not playing with Ozzy!'" [laughs]
MusicRadar.com: But was it a shock?
Zakk: "It's always been this way: 'We're going out on the road.' It's like, 'When?' 'Tomorrow.' 'What?!'
"I'm the last person to find out anything, you know? 'Wait a minute…I have three kids?' [laughs] 'Yeah, they're 17, 16 and 7, man, so we need some college money now.'
"But I've been with Oz since I was 19; I'm fucking 42 years old. It's just like…like with my dad passing away, same with my mom…I don't go, 'Oh, this sucks.' I never ask; I always thank.
"At least I got to spend 23 years with the boss. And he knows I'll always be there with him. Gus [G., of FIREWIND], who's playing with [Ozzy now], he's fucking awesome. So I hope he has a millisecond of the good time I had — that's a fucking lifetime. Gus will have a fucking blast, you know what I mean?"

Zakk's been the only reason to go and see Ozzy for quite a few years now. Still though the things he's doing with Black Label Society are better than anything Ozzy's done since No More Tears. Probably good for him to move on. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazooka Joe from Friday, November 06, 2009 2:26:59 PM) | | Bazooka Joe wrote: | | Zakk Wylde Interview

KK Downing Interview
Golf365 recently conducted an interview with JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing. An excerpt from the chat follows below.
Golf365: Is it true DEF LEPPARD got you into golf?
Downing: Yeah, kind of. They challenged us to a game of golf and we challenged them to tennis. That sort of got us back into golf, because I'd played before but after that we started playing on tour a lot. It made sense because we had the time. We'd get in a cab, me and Glenn (Tipton; fellow JUDAS PRIEST guitarist), didn't know where we were going, didn't care, we'd just ask the driver which was the best course in the area, he'd take us and we'd end up playing some great courses. One time we were in Denver and asked for the top course, ended up at Arrowhead. The memories of that course and to think I played there — it was a special place.
Golf365: You've been on tour in the States this summer. Did you get to play much?
Downing: Only twice — we played Harding Park and then in Florida. They were getting Harding Park ready for the Presidents Cup, putting the bleachers up behind the greens. It was nice but not specced up for a tournament then though. The greens were good but it's a public course and has a lot of traffic so they were full of pitch marks. It was like a leopard skin. You could tell it would scrub up nicely though.
Golf365: What have been the best courses you've played in the States then?
Downing: I think maybe Jack Nicklaus' Desert Highlands resort in Arizona. That was, like, wow! It was the first time I saw round tees as well which blew me away. But then I just love Arizona for golf. I've played plenty of other great places: Doral, LaCosta, Torrey Pines, Cherry Hills ...
Golf365: Pebble Beach?
Downing: No, never played Pebble Beach. Royal Quebec, Cog Hill. I tell you, for years that was the best I had played. It was like: "How come no one talks about Cog Hill?" This summer we stayed at Las Colinas where they play the Byron Nelson but I didn't get to play it. I've played there before. We always stay there actually, played there when Alice Cooper opened for us. I lived in Hawaii for a while and I played all the courses there including Waialae and Kapalua; I love Hawaiian golf. But even some of the no-name courses are great. You know, up in the north — Dakota, Idaho, getting up into those Canadian pines. The drama is fantastic. I reckon you can never build enough drama into a golf course.
Golf365: How do you find the differences between the U.S. and British golf?
Downing: Golf is much more welcoming in the States and I think that's where I got it from, my vision for this place. But then, whenever you are an entertainer in the States they love it. Over here they worry a bit about your reputation.
Golf365: Tell us about your early experiences of playing golf in the UK.
Downing: Well, golf's moved on a long way since I first thought about it. Coming from the Black Country, I know that it used to be a sport for people of a certain class. It wasn't that working class people didn't want to play because you'd see them knocking a ball around in the park. But where could they play? It reminds me of the way things are in Japan now. I don't know what the stats are but I've played there and I've felt guilty playing — yeah, guilty! It's something like 9 out of 10 Japanese golfers won't get to see a course!

Rush To Discuss Their Future
RUSH drummer Neil Peart has updated the "News Weather And Sports" section of his web site with his latest entry, entitled "Autumn Serenade". An excerpt follows below.
"In this autumn of 2009, the three of us are poised on another kind of 'reinvention.' We have agreed to meet in Los Angeles in November, and discuss our future.
"We learned many years ago that when we finish one long project — like a two-year tour following a year or so of writing and recording for 'Snakes & Arrows' — we don’t make any further plans for a while. It's good to feel truly free for a time, and to clear your mind to focus on what you'd really like to do next. Of course, these are parlous times in the music business, so our time-honored pattern of touring, recording, and touring is no longer the obvious way to do things. The music world — or at least the business of it — is very different now, even since 2006, when we began work on 'Snakes & Arrows'. The importance of 'the album' is not what it was, and there is currently a reversion to a musical climate rather like the 1950s, when only 'the song' matters. Radio, downloads, and 'shuffle' settings are inimical to collected works. Because of that reality, record company advances that used to pay for album projects are a thing of the past, so if that was what we wanted to do, we'd be on our own... To this point, the three of us haven't even discussed what we might discuss, so to speak — so our ideas and shared enthusiasm for the entity of RUSH will be fresh, spontaneous, and quite likely exciting. For myself, I'm open to anything we can all agree on (I've pointed out before that in a three-piece band, we need consensus, not democracy — it's no good having one outvoted and unhappy member). My favorite group activity is always songwriting and recording, and I've got some lyrical ideas and those new drumming frontiers to explore. However, those rhythmic concepts would also be inspiring for a new drum solo, if we decided to do a tour of some kind, maybe with an orchestra. We could write and record just a few songs, and release them some way. Or there were a couple of film-and-music projects we had discussed in the past. In any case, there are enough possibilities for future collaboration, and I am curious to see what we'll come up with."

Motorhead To Enter Studio In February
MOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister told ABORT Magazine's E.S. Day in a new interview that the band will hit the studio in February "to rehearse, write and record" its next album. The forthcoming CD will be the follow-up to "Motörizer", which sold a little more than 6,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 82 on The Billboard 200 chart. The album was recorded in part (drums only) at FOO FIGHTERS frontman/ex-NIRVANA drummer Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in Northridge, California with producer Cameron Webb, who also worked on "Kiss of Death" and 2004's "Inferno".
On November 2, U.K.-based publisher John Blake Publishing Co. will release the authorized book "Motörhead: In The Studio" by biographer Jake Brown, featuring exclusive interviews with MOTÖRHEAD mainman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister.
"Motörhead: In The Studio" is described in a press release as "the first comprehensive study of the in-studio making of MOTÖRHEAD's legendary catalog — including such classics as 'Overkill', 'Bomber', 'Ace of Spades', 'Orgasmatron', 'March or Die' and 'Motörizer', among others — told via first-hand interviews with engineers and legendary producers as Tony Platt, Trevor Hallesy, Will Reid, Thom Panunzio, John Burns, Howard Benson, Ryan Dorn, Mark Dearnley, Chuck Reed, Peter Solley, Arabella Rodriguez, Cameron Webb, and former drummer Pete Gill." The book's cover was conceived by Kilmister and features the band's classic warpig logo sporting sunglasses and headphones.
"Motörhead: In The Studio" is available for pre-order at Amazon.com.
MOTÖRHEAD performed its classic song "Iron Fist" on the October 8 edition of ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". Video of the band's appearance can be viewed below.
MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee finished third in the reality-TV competition "Kändisdjungeln", the Swedish version of the popular U.K. and U.S. show "I'm a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here!". Dee was eliminated during the series' fifteenth episode, which aired on September 25.
Dee, 45, sat out most of MOTÖRHEAD's recent North American tour in order to take part in "Kändisdjungeln", which was filmed in the jungles of Malaysia. Filling in for him on the dates that he missed was former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum.

This isn't really a press article as such, I I've just heard that Tom Wheatcroft, the owner of Donington Park (which is, of course, the home of the greatest rock festival in the world, plus a lot of great motor racing) has just died aged 78. He bought the place in 1971 and restored it- so without him we would never have had the amazing performances (including Judas Priest) that have taken place there since 1980. RIP Tom Wheatcroft. |

Slayer Release 20 Minute Video/Graphic Novel
SLAYER's video graphic novel "Playing With Dolls" can be viewed below. The clip is available for viewing only through the weekend, and then on Tuesday as part of the "deluxe-edition" version of the band's new album, "World Painted Blood". (Note: The video will be removed from MySpace after this weekend.)
No mere music video, the 20-minute "Playing with Dolls" was created and directed by Mark Brooks ("Metalocalypse") and is a stark, 12-part nightmare that breathes corrupt life into SLAYER's latest syllabus of stalkers, psychopaths and serial killers, merging their aberrant psyches into the supremely focused desire of a single, merciless malcontent. A methodical distillation of one man's lethal frenzy, the film follows the gruesome outbursts of a nameless protagonist. He is not an indiscriminate murder junkie, but rather a highly creative snuff-artist with a deeply personal sense of purpose — a man for whom murder is the only conceivable way forward. With a black heart hardened by tragedy, he chooses his victims carefully. His methods are as grisly and varied as they are poetic.
Inspired by the songs on "World Painted Blood" — in particular Jeff Hanneman's "Playing With Dolls", from which the horror short takes its title — the film blends elements of animation and still-photography into a visual style similar to that of a graphic novel. The soundtrack for the "Playing With Dolls" short features clips from all 11 of the songs on "World Painted Blood"; in addition, the music bed for episode No. 7 is taken from "Atrocity Vendor", a new song that is not on the album.
"It's not live action and it's not animated," Brooks explains. "It's a weird hybrid of the two, and I haven't seen a lot of things done this way."
"It's a little weirder than your regular blood n' guts type thing," he says of the storyline, "which I think is a reflection of SLAYER's music."
But make no mistake: There is blood, and plenty of it. As the real-life boyfriend of one of the film's "victims" told Brooks after a private screening, "I almost threw up while I watching that. And I think that's a compliment."
SLAYER — bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, and drummer Dave Lombardo — started recording "World Painted Blood", the band's 10th studio album, last October in a Los Angeles studio with producer Greg Feldeman, and completed it this past May. Recording "World Painted Blood" was a unique experience for SLAYER who has historically begun the recording process with all songs written and fully rehearsed. This time, they did the bulk of writing and song development while in the studio. According to drummer Dave Lombardo, "On this record, we worked a lot more collectively, we were more attentive to each other's ideas and willing to try them, which only benefited the album." "World Painted Blood" is indeed a SLAYER album, and consequently deals with topics such as death and destruction, war, serial killers, and the Apocalypse. "Psychopathy Red", leaked online a year ago, was inspired by the heinous Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo, a.k.a. the Rostov Ripper, who confessed to brutally murdering 56 children. "Beauty Through Order" (Kerry King: "one of Jeff's songs, it has a very heavy 'do me' intro to it then explodes with a really cool vibe,") "Unit 731", "Playing With Dolls" (Lombardo: an awesome track, great song structure, great vibe"), "Public Display of Dismemberment", and "Americon", a King composition. Of "Americon", King explains, "It's about what I think the rest of the world thinks of America. We may not be big on a lot of people's lists, but I don't care what you think of my government, of my economy, or whatever. I live here and this is one of the best places that I've ever found to live. So fuck you if you don't like it."
"World Painted Blood" will initially ship with four special collector's edition CD covers. Each of the four covers will display one-fourth of a provocative continental map illustrated with human skulls and bones; when placed together, the four images form a complete and grisly map of the world. All four of the initial CD packages will include a special blood-red, see-through top panel with the map displayed beneath it.

"In addition to a sampling of their own fist-pumping anthems, singer-guitarist James Hetfield, guitarist Kirk Hammett, bassist Robert Trujillo and drummer Lars Ulrich took a stab at BOB SEGER's 'Turn the Page' before summoning an impressive supporting cast.
"'Go (expletive) crazy!' Ozzy Osbourne instructed as METALLICA accompanied him on 'Iron Man' and 'Paranoid'.
"The inspired pairings continued as METALLICA tore through 'Sweet Jane' with Lou Reed and 'You Really Got Me' with Ray Davies."

In his review of the concert, John Soeder of The Plain Dealer writes, "METALLICA was on hand to represent the harder side of rock. The headbanging portion of the evening commenced with 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'.
Check out photos of METALLICA's performance from The Plain Dealer.
METALLICA was inducted into the Hall of Fame this past April.
Tonight's show also featured U2, BECK, BUDDY GUY, ARETHA FRANKLIN, ANNIE LENNOX, LENNY KRAVITZ and JERRY LEE LEWIS.
Highlights of both nights' Madison Square Garden concerts will be part of a four-hour broadcast next month on HBO. |

Scorpions - Live In the Jungle DVD
In August 2007, Germany's most successful music export worldwide, SCORPIONS, ventured deep into the Brazilian jungle for a sold-out show in front of 40,000 enthusiastic fans the band played a concert in Manaus, the metropolis on the Amazon river. A cooperation with Greenpeace was already existent at this point and when the band returned to South America the next year, they happily intensified it.
Kaus Meine, lead singer of the SCORPIONS, recollects, "Due to the unbelievable success we returned to Manaus in 2008, but we also played Rio, Sao Paulo and Recife again. During the show in Belem, we accepted Greenpeace's invitation to participate in a three-hour flight across the rainforest in order to get a picture of the proceeding destruction (an area twice the size of Germany has been destroyed by fire so far). We wholeheartedly supported Greenpeace with large banners saying 'Stop the deforestation' during these shows and part of the proceeds from this DVD will consequently be given to this organization that is commited in so many parts of the world."
For many years, Greenpeace has been fighting against the rapid deforestation of the amazon rainforest and for the preservation of the habitat of numerous animal and plant species and also of more than 180 native peoples counting more than 200,000 people altogether. Scientists assume that the rainforest will be gone by 2050 — given a constant "deforestation speed." The consequences would be disastrous: People would lose their homes, animals and plants would become extinct and the impact on the world climate would be bomb-like.
The SCORPIONS have now commited themselves to protecting this unique ecosystem. The rock icons' DVD "Amazonia - Live In The Jungle" not only includes the complete show played in Recife on September 7, 2008 and a "Special Feature – supported by Greenpeace" consisting of five live videos from their legendary concert in Manaus in 2007, but also a Greenpeace documentation of the SCORPIONS' legendary flight across the amazon rainforest. Royalties of DVDs sold in Brazil and Mexico predominately go to Greenpeace Brazil's projects to protect the ancient forest.
Musically, the DVD is a highlight as well. Meine says, "During the 2008 tour we had the pleasure to perform with Brazilian guest musicians. It was a wonderful experience and demonstrated very well how music builds bridges and brings people from different cultures together."
In a closing statement, the musician addresses his South American fans and says, "We want to thank our Brazilian fans for the support and the incredible enthusiasm. To quote James: '3 words: You kick ass.' Brazil rocks!!!"

Actually, I am still rather impressionable.....HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You make a great point, though. Young and still learning. All in all, I must concede that Unleashed had the same effect on me. Once I heard it I knew there was nothing better. What a great album. What is funny is that British Steel really didn't do much for me at first. Seriously! I have no idea why but I just did not take to it as quickly as I did Unleashed. Once again...young and impressionable. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guitardude from Thursday, October 29, 2009 4:18:31 PM) | | guitardude wrote: | | Nearly twenty is still in the formative years, aka young and impressionable. We are quite close in age and allthough I didn`t get into the Priest until British Steel, I also was still familiar with them. Once I got a listen to Unleashed, it was all over for me!!!! | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Very well put, GD. Although I was nearing twenty when Unleashed came out, I recall it as being THE most incredible "live" album I had ever heard and, although we now know it was not entirely "live", I still regard it as such. Rob's voice on that album was absolutely astonishing and I was hooked, even though I had heard their music for a couple years by that time and had been covering them in a band. The new live album really does little for me. I love the music and the band and all but I just cannot get into it as much as most fans seem to and I am sure that has a lot to do with Unleashed.
On a separate note, my congratulations to our own jackylone for his success and notoriety through the Nostra album! Well done, even though I am sure he did not plan for all this to happen. What a wonderful turn of events for one of our own. My only disappointment in all of it is that he did not take the opportunity to mention our Board and family a bit. Sure would have been great for this site. Ah well, not a big deal really. As I mentioned, I know he did not do it for all of this attention. VERY well done, my friend! | | guitardude wrote: | | JD and Freeze
I`d like to add my two cents in here about the Live albums. Unleashed in the East is it for me as well. Nothing has ever compared since. I think that the reason why is we were exposed to it during our most formative years as fans. Now , we are experienced listeners and pick out what we don`t particularly like or wished it had been done differently. | | J.D. DIAMOND wrote: | | What a strage interview from RJD Joe!!! Excellent!!! And Freeze....I agree with you as I have never been able to get "into" a live album after "Unleashed In The East" no matter how much they doctored it up in the studio...Unleashed In The East is still unbeatable. And jimmyjames...there are some "fan-boys" here like "TASNAM1" who says "every song and every album" by JP is equally excellent, now that is a fuckin "fan-boy".He has no opinions of Judas Priest songs because its all the same to him....Painkiller and Parental Guidence are equally the same to him after all its just Judas Priest! LOL! What a fuckin "JOKE".
I am sick of fans like this...if Judas Priest put out a fucking disco album TASNAM1 would love it.If they put out a rap album,TASNAM1 would love it. If they put out a Britny Spears album with Britny on vocals with Rob...TASNAM1 would "love it" because to TASNAM1 ...."its all the same". So I agree with jimmyjames that there is some fanboyism going on here. And it makes me sick as well!!!

Dio Interview
Dio’s website calls him “the grand wizard of classic rock”. He’s been recording since 1958, and first achieved recognition with his band Elf, who supported Deep Purple in 1972. He then joined Rainbow, and sang with Black Sabbath after Ozzy Osbourne was kicked out.
In 1983 he released his first solo album, Holy Diver, the title track of which was recently covered by the metalcore band Killswitch Engage. He currently fronts Heaven And Hell, a return to the Black Sabbath line-up he was part of.
Do you collect anything weird?
Frogs. I was in Cornwall in 1975 and discovered a little shop, and inside there was a frog playing guitar, and I just couldn’t help myself. I started to collect frogs, and I have a lot of people who care about me and give them to me. I have a frog with a large phallic member with a teacup on it.
Do you believe in ghosts?
When I was in Rainbow, we were at a place called the Château, north of Paris. There wasn’t a lot to do other than record, so one day we had a séance. We contacted this woman named Sarah who kept saying nothing but, “Kill Thomas, kill Thomas, kill Thomas”. This went on for a week.
So we asked Sarah some questions, and found out Thomas was her son, who she wanted us to kill because he killed her, in childbirth. We asked if we could talk to someone else and the glass started to go everywhere. It said: “I am Baal. I create chaos. You will never finish this project.” It got a lot more involved than that. That’s the tip of the iceberg.
What’s the closest you’ve come to death?
An automobile accident in the early days of Elf. Our driver was killed, as well as my best friend and lead guitar player. I went through the windscreen and then back, ripped a part of my scalp off, broke a leg and broke an arm.
One of the guitar players in the back hit his face on the engine and had 16 stitches near his eye, and one almost had his legs amputated… it just went on and on. Just a horrible experience.
Do you have any recurring dreams?
I have nightmares on the road – I guess that’s just the stress of being in different places and having a different diet. The worst one was waking up in a bus and seeing all the people who’ve died before me and someone saying: “Don’t worry, you’ll be with us soon.”
Have you ever had a crush on someone that most people would think was gross?
Sophia Loren’s lower lip. I always just thought she had a magnificent lower lip.
What does your orgasm face look like?
I don’t know… I don’t think I’ve ever really looked! Probably white and sticky.
Have you ever seen any quirky genitalia?
I had a guitar player who had a crooked cock. It was hard to miss; I guess he was proud of it. Sometimes we had to pee together and you know, you check it out.
I thought you weren’t meant to!
Yeah, you can sneak a peek! You can look and go, “Holy, look at the size…” and then tell your friends, “Some guy was in the toilet with a knob like a bell!” But you don’t give it a stare, for sure.
What’s the oddest thing you’ve eaten?
I don’t eat vegetables, because I can’t stand the sliminess – like green beans. Or anything that looks like it’s got something still growing inside it. I do eat potatoes, they’re like a quasi-vegetable; and I’ll eat tomatoes as long as they’re crushed up in a sauce. Other than that, I only eat meat. So, kangaroo.
What’s the strangest thing a fan’s ever sent to you?
I can name almost all the frogs. The strangest things are books of the dead – but I figure that’d be expected.
What’s the strangest thing in your house?
Aside from myself? Sometimes you collect so many things they start cohabitating. I’m looking at a frog, and next to the frog is a wolf, and then there’s another frog who’s playing the saxophone, and next to him is a gargoyle on a candlestick, and next to him is Henry VIII. And I have some really beautiful crosses.
What’s the biggest animal you’ve killed?
A squirrel, accidentally. I love animals. I’ve always had dogs and cats. They put things in perspective: I see how wonderfully made they are and how flawed we are.
And now, the classic Bizarre challenge: choose between coprophilia, necrophilia and bestiality and explain your decision.
If I had to choose, bestiality. I certainly don’t want to screw any dead people and I don’t want to eat shit; at least there’s some kind of sexualness going on in the other one that I can get a live perspective on, anyway.
Which animal?
A spider. A black widow, of course!
What would go through your head when it started to eat you after sex?
“Ouch” is the first thing I’d say, and “stop” would be next, and “Oh my God” – you know, the usual epithets hurled out when these things happen, when you get eaten by a spider.
Do you think the sex would be good?
Probably not.
