@Bud - somehow I would have guessed that you were talking to me. Of COURSE I went to Hell! LOL!!! Last day I rented a car (ever see one of these, HB?), ALWAYS repeating "drive on the left, drive on the left..."
Drove that car from one end of that 22 mile island to the other taking in the scenery from the VERY isolated National Park where I snappped the shot above and below....
to the complete opposite end of the island, Rum Point (below).
What is by the National Park side? HELL! Really funny as I was just going to take this one shot (below) when the owner of that one store told me to go around back to see the reason why it is called Hell. There is a Hell, MI so I didn't think that there would be much but it is too funny. Would have just taken this shot and kept driving had she not said anything. Hey, got me into her store where I bought the traditional postcard, stamp and went to the post office next door to mail it. Postmarked from Hell! Too funny. I don't know for sure but I don't think Hell, MI has a post office.
Bought a shot glass as well...
For those that don't know, the above, a bar and little strip-mall of crap (with absolutely NO visitors when I drove in as the post office is there (to the immediate left of this store above, in fact) is all that there really is to the city of "Hell, Grand Cayman).
The photo below explains why it was named "Hell." Afraid the city in MI has no such rock formation....
I stayed right on 7 mile beach (nobody knows why they named a five-mile+ beach that name) but was scuba diving every day but the last which was good as 7 mile beach doen't have much open area unless you went down to the public beach a decent drive (or bus ride) down. While I never stopped at the McD's, I would imagine so as you can order beer with your fries anywhere in Europe and in all the local places where I actually ate.

Just got back and have hundreds of photos. Most at depth (100-110ft below). Obviously, this isn't. Look above the "e" for the roaming Priest necklace.
Guido Diver! Dives in with the .... um....hammerheads, nurse sharks, rays. Blowin' bubbles at depth.
Now SpongeBob. Sorry to say that I did see him. Unfortunately, he was half destroyed by a sea turtle! Must have given up hope after the loss of his friend.
I did try to chase that sucker down, but the damage was already done to the sponge above. Never watched the cartoon, as you know, but hope that sponge wasn't him.
Ah, screw that sponge eater, I went after sharks and rays.
One of the last dives: Ex-USS Kittiwake. Five decks. Damn cool dive.

Very nicely, indeed. Saw numerous nurse sharks at depth while diving and even a hammerhead. Screw me, though, as my mask flooded beyond clearing when the hammerhead showed up. I just wrote to a guy on the same ship to send me a vid of it when he gets home. Hey, gave me the excuse to buy me a new mask / snorkel.
Nurse shark I saw while snorkeling was impressive. 1/2 mile out and just laying on the bottom of the ocean. Alas, never thought I'd see anything cool if I wasn't diving so I didn't bring the camera! Last Sunday, after the last two-tank dive (wreck of the Kittiwake), I had the dive person drop me back at the public beach where I saw the nurse shark. About a 5-6 footer. Found it again but under a reef. I have a REAL good shot of its tail! Had it not been 30 feet down, I would have yanked on its tail to make him come out (probably to bite me).
Got great vid of a 10 foot shark at depth but it was far away and a screen capture wouldn't do the vid justice. Just a great experience overall.
Here. Turtle love. Not sure if one is just giving another a ride but ... um ... I doubt it! LOL!

Here's Mt Ruapehu (Roo-a-pay-hoo), one of NZs many volcanoes (last erupted in the early-mid 90's, I remember watching it from afar as a kid)
And Mt Ngarahoe (cone shaped one) (naa-ra-hoe-ee) and Mt Tongariro (rugged flat type one to the right) (tong-a-reer-o) - these two are right next to Ruapehu and Tongariro is where Mordor was set for the Lord of The Rings movies.
Here's Lake Taupo (tow-paw, proper Maori pronounciation, or an attempt at writing it at least lol) - a great big lake in the middle of the North Island that was created by a giant volcanic explosion many many years ago.
Auckland city centre from a boat we went on a harbour cruise in, the tall spiky building is the Sky Tower
Me on Rangitoto (rang-ee-toe-toe) Island - another result of volcanic activity. There is no soil on this island but the trees grow awesomely on the volcanic rock.
Going underneath Auckland harbour bridge on the boat
Rangitoto Island in the background, the north shore part of Auckland in front of that, from the viewing deck of the sky tower - I nearly pooped myself lol not a big fan of heights
The beach at Devonport, a suburb of the North Shore area that we had a nosey around

Thanks. I bought a GoPro Hero2 just before Hawaii and took it to Utah as well. You should see the HD vid. Too funny as I don't wear a helmet and didnt' want to mount them to my skiis. Thus, I tried holding it for a few runs. Almost bit it more than once on an unexpected ice slick. THAT would have made for a viral YouTube or America's Dumbest vids for sure.
Doing well until, BOOF! Face-plant and "oh man, I think my leg shouldn't be behind my head!"

For those who actually ski (not snowboard as Deer Valley doesn't allow them), there are three major places to ski: Deer Valley, The Canyons and Park City itself. Pop and I got a condo right in Park City. cool as you can catch a ski lift right out of the city. For those who don't know, this is the same small, one-street (basiclally) town that hosts the Sundance Film Festival. Mora about that to come.
First, This is park City resort. Just missed catching a deal from someone who wanted to sell a lift ticket by minutes. DAMN! Cold, windy but a helluva view. All peaks are around the 9000ft range. This is looking down on an icy double black diamond. Thought I'd take a picture in case I pulled a Sony Bono (RIP). Hard to tell but BIG bowl for those in the know.
Park City is cool as the runs have these pieces of art all around the runs. Funny as hell. Sorry to not have snapped a shot of one with a metal mohawk.
Next. The Canyons. Double Black. Too bad the moguls don't show. Low visibility in general that day. Next got better as Pop and I hit all three several times. Lose it on a mogul? No trouble. A tree will stop you. Bump and turn! This run, curiously enough is called, Nine-Ninety -90. Means 9,990 feet in the air. Yes, they scan you before you ascend to make sure they mark your body as "lost." You have to pay to have them come and find you. Avalanche almost got a snowboarder the day before. Like a riptide....cut across and SWIM to the surface!!
Deer Valley. The "posh" place." Damn good skiing and great days. Plus, the necessary shot. Skinny, wimpy me and the JP Cross!
The lake below was better by itself.
Finally, after every good day. Brindis con mi papá. Nobody broke a leg or died (notice 70+ year old pop wears a helmet?).
Cheers all.

Oh, a man after my own heart! Screw the pictures of a double diamond 10,000 ft drop. HAL 9000 was the best thing I stumbled across on the trip! In the basement of some guy's studio on the main drag in Park City. They had signs all around about not taking pictures of the artist's work but I HAD to go up and ask permission to take a picture of the original HAL. Guy laughed and gave me the thumb's up saying that he had taken several himself without the owner's knowledge.

The funniest one. Last weekend in North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Don't know what they were celebrating (basketball game hadn't started yet) but to see a courtyard full of people spraying paint on themselves was quite a chuckle. Made me homesick for MSU. THEY would do this sort of crazy shit! The picture doesn't do it service. There were literally throngs of people out there. Look at the paint sprayer in the distance.
Many people tried to hug me that day (despite my skinny, weak body). LOL!!!!
