Karma. I was watching dodgeball at cubs (I am a cub leader and the littlest kid got me when I wasnt looking) so I am out, fine, I dont profess to be perfect at dodgeball. I am a big target. well, I called out a few kids who were hit and kept playing. one leader got hit. didnt hear me apparently, as the kids didnt. he got hit again. I was now watching quietly with another leader, discussing the idea that we would expect the kids to cheat, not the leaders. got hit a third time, right in the nads. first thing I said to him, Karma is a bitch!!! While they run, head to head benchmarks show Vista to be some 35% slower in running apps and, worse for me, GAMES when compared with XP.
Mac OSX has made such a jump in marketshare when compared with buggy ol' Vista that Microsoft is now rumored to push up the release of the next operating system from 2010 to 2009.
Vista will go the way of Windows 2000, if you ask me or any of my tech-nerd friends. Yup, I agree 100%. I manage a Mac lab and have it set up to dual boot with Windows. First thing I do when setting up a new machine is use a home-brew slipstreamed version of Windows that I have configured to my liking with all the drivers needed. NEVER include XP3 on that custom disk just as I would never think about installing that pig of a resource hog known as Vista (aka. Mojaveeeeeeee! LOL!). Avoid it.

I do not think it will ever cease to amaze me how one member can make an off-handed comment and our entire group goes into a state of semi-hysteria! Additionally, while I do not know who our imposter friend actually is, I can concur with his/her repeated posts; Murray is NOT closing the Board! HA!!!!!!!!!!!! Come now, folks! We all know what rumors can do. Ye GODS!!!
How many of you remember the "Shut-Down Rumor of '05"?? Or the "Site will Close Rumor" of '06? HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COME ON!! Until Murray himself actually posts such a statement ON HIS WEBMASTER Thread, I can guarantee you there is NO one particular member with the power to close this site, REGARDLESS of their distaste for it or what we say on a daily basis!
Over the last few years, we have had complaints about non-Priest related conversation. We have had complaints about idiots that come here solely to cause trouble. We have had complaints about imposters. We have had complaints about stalkers. The list goes on and on. NONE of this has given Murray a reason to close the site. Why? Because this Board belongs to JUDAS PRIEST. It is a business vehicle in that they use it to keep fans updated on their shows, latest news, CDs, etc. It is part of doing business as a professional music group.
We have endured so much here and always come out stronger. We have had our fair share of morons and we even have members that disagree with others. Geee whiz! A difference of opinion!?!?! WOW!! I fear that is part of life, my friends. Deal with it. Let's place the panic button back in our drawer and enjoy the holidays! We have a whole new year ahead with MORE excellent Priest music to come! 2009 is going to ROCK!!!!!!

Now, now. Don't worry. It'll all end in a month.
I'm not a big shopper myself. I go after the "scraps" once the major shopping rushes are done. I'm a huge fan of window-shopping (just looking at the stuff behind the glass display window). HA!!!!!!! The holiday season is like this: stress, stress, stress, and by the way did I mention a little more stress! I am not a shopper, I would go to the mall and shopping centers more often if they would let me taze unrullly shoppers! I was once in Wally World minding my own business, doing some shopping and a woman came and started tossing my stuff around and was going to take my cart! What is wrong with people these days.

Scorp, that is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me. I mean that. I remember the guy you mentioned. We always had one on our teams as well. Sometimes, I was lucky enough to be that guy. Other times, I can remember looking to that guy and he was always ready with the right words. How tremendously kind of you to say that. I havent been there in years. dunno. I dont like the layout, but its a common layout for a board. I like this format. but when I did go there the first thing I saw in the frequently unaswered questions for rob halford thread was some guy who had pierced his dong and now he cant pee. so organized, I dont think so. Seriously though folks, this whole topic is really disappointing. Where Am I, while I respect your opinion, I think that if you look at other band sites (Megadeth and Iron Maiden to name 2), there are threads just like what we've got here. Are those sites shutting down b/c of such frivolty? Absolutely not! Is the Def Leppard site shutting down b/c of a non-Def Leppard thread? Nope. So, if you don't like the non-JP-related threads, stay out of them. That simple. This whole discussion on is really pointless.
We are all here b/c we want to talk to other JP fans, and it's human nature to discuss what's bothering them or what makes them happy or to create if given the outlet to do so.
If you don't want to see the other threads, there is a little 'X' to the right of each thread heading that you can use to IGNORE threads that you do not want to see. I am sure that it works quite well.

Agreed. Thats what I came here for too. Priest fans. And even though I would be hard pressed to remember when was the last time I actualy talked about Priest on this site, I think all of us still at all times know whats it all about.
And even though my endless debates with DF on all sorts of things usualy dont have any connection to Priest, we are still both Priest fans.
I mean, even though this is a metal site, I think that pretty much all of us have other interests than Priest. Why shouldnt we discuss them? More important, if the site shuts down (although my impersonator repeatedly tells us that he has it all under control) what would I do when Im bored at work? [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Tuesday, December 02, 2008 9:16:07 PM) | | Vaillant 3.0 wrote: | | I'll throw in my two cents to the subject as a member of the other side of the age spectrum: young, stupid and still figuring out how the world works.
I know my posts tend to be nothing but sinful pics of the band, word games, chatting, "spur of the moment" stuff and what I'm listening to at the moment, but I still remember the main reason why I came here in the first place: the fact that none of my friends have heard, or are into, Judas Priest. I come here in order to be at home with the people who love Judas Priest as much as I do. Finding Judas Priest fans whom I could talk to face-to-face is pretty rare in my part of the world, so this site is a helpful tool in finding such fans. In other words, it would really kill me if the Noticeboard closes down. Where AmI, I'm pretty sure that your idea of having only threads containing messages from JP and to JP is how the Noticeboard first began, but it just grew into the complex, close-knit, chatty community that exists today. There just isn't enough Judas Priest fanatics out there, dang it!! This is the place where friendships begin and frequently stay, because our love for the band is what keeps us here, random talk and everything. Granted, I'm not the person who broke a bone or two during a Priest concert, but the need for Judas Priest in my life is alive and kicking. Heck, I listen to them everyday!! | | Where AmI wrote: | | I see your point and respect it: those are your choices to make as to how you contact friends. Everybody has their own preferences though I fail to see how this website is any more personal than the cellphone texting, email and instant messaging and I also fail to see how a different jp.com would change what you have going on with your friends and your lifestyle. I understand you and at the same time I don't get it.
I would assume that people don't adapt themselves to my preferences, so I don't expect them to. I really do think that many times this place is just talking to increase post count, and that is all. Unfortunately it seems a respect issue is directly related to how many worthless posts someone has under their belt too.
My deal is:
In November Judas Priest toured South America. How many south american heavy metal solid fans have decided to say hello here? Few, and how many really attended the concerts? Bunches. Where are the photos? The reviews? The active engagement of Judas Priest members here. KK Downing at least is making an effort but he is only one-fifth of JP and he's got his own website that he controls better. The other one is Rob Halford. Same thing. They don't seem to take the internet as their prime means to connect to people. They use it but it's by no means the only way. Thankfully, in that respect they're somewhat normal.
I really appreciated some feedback from Rob Halford a few months ago here. It felt for a moment like a good effort to please computer addicted morons like me.
My point is, though you are a very agreeable, thankfully intelligent and witty individual to whom is a pleasure to reply and whose posts I enjoy reading, guido, I still come here for news, photos, artwork by fans and overall fandom stuff and not to read through loads of small petty talk, nude pics of women, rude posts and such that the ignore button doesn't seem to keep me from reading through. I really don't like to feel an outsider to someone's conversations in a public forum where it's supposed to be for all.
If only Messages From Jp and Messages to Jp were the only features available, I think there would be a clearer ideal behind this place, and the overall personality disorders that shine through like a beacon in the night around here (guilty) would not be so visible. The personal messaging in the website allows you to contact your friends in prety much the same way you are doing now publicly. It simply avoids everybody who isn't interested to read it too.
As you can see, popularity isn't my main concern I can't stop from speaking my mind. Edited at: Tuesday, December 02, 2008 7:10:37 PM |

There are people who post here to increse their post count. what a waste. your right that respect points often work off of post count. again, not right. the whole respect point thing is unfortunate.
the south american fans, well, I cant speak for them, i dont know what the percentage of south americans have the net?
the way I see it though, in person, you get to know people, thru what they say to you, and their actions. I could get an email addy for someone who is a priest fan, trade emails, and know nothing about them. I have met people that i know only from the board here, and i knew them first. their actions here define them. to me, the fans, not the band are the reason that this board needs to stay. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Where AmI from Tuesday, December 02, 2008 7:09:40 PM) | | Where AmI wrote: | | I see your point and respect it: those are your choices to make as to how you contact friends.

Damn, the great and mighty Oz has spoken (in echo).
Here I was about to call Freeze to task for misspelling "asinine" thus owing you half your self-proclaimed intellectual property over the term he almost used. You can just forget it now! You know, this may not be the proper Thread in which to make this comment but I have to say something!!!!
To ALL of you that have or continue to post in the moronic, idiotic, ridiculous, inane, stupid, unworthy, asinine, dumb, mindless, foolish and wasteful Thread regarding Rob Halford being a "thief", PLEASE, PLEASE , PLEASE just STOP! Do not de-value yourselves and lend credence to this waste of human flesh!!! I am BEGGING you! Literally, on my feeble and very painful knees, begging you to STOP!! Let him and his attempt at gaining attention die the horrible death it so richly deserves!!!!!!!!
Thank you.

MG,
Hey girl...
I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum. I can't imagine...
(One of my worst fears! Mum is my rock.)
Ignore that idiot. He does not belong here.
"Mean people suck..."
You know there's better people than that here for you @ JP.com
I've had a tough time of it lately myself, as you know... and will pm you my phone number. Call me, okay???
I haven't been on this site for very long, only a few months since the hallowed "Vegas event w/ the Sinful Ladies" -- and you really should've been there! But in the short time I have been here, I've met people who have been instrumental in helping me thru this, either via email or pm, or here on the site itself. I imagine they will be friends for as long as they can put up with me! lol... I am so grateful for them, and this site. It all helps! So, dont' go...!
But, if you have to take a break we will understand. I had to... But, it's good to be back. Freeze is right, this is a family and I am amazed at how much people care about each other here. Would be so cool to all meet one day, eh?
Way back when I joined, I stated how JP fans seem to be the most genuine, sincere bunch and the concerts are much better than other bands, because of it. I knew it years ago, and this site proves it.
Hang in there. Good thoughts are coming your way.
Looking forward to hearing from you....??? [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by MG_Metalgoddess from Sunday, November 30, 2008 3:54:36 PM) | | MG_Metalgoddess wrote: | | Well first and foremost I would like to say Hello, and say that I missed talking to you all...
My mother made it through the surgery, her cancer had spread.. and they ended up taking 17 additional lymph nodes from her under arm area.. and will be biopsy-ing them, and I wont know the results until this Friday.. And Depending on what type of cancer it is will depend on her treatment...
I see alot has gone on since I was gone... And unfortunatly. I see I will not be coming back out here for a very long time. I do not want to go through what I went through before on this site..
Anywase.. thank you all and e-mail me if you want my hot mail is listed..
Love and the best to all...

Hell yes...I've been a proud member here for 5 years (as have others..some of whom have more time behind them even!!), and there ain't a troll, site-spy, asshole, fuckstick or shit-talkin' skell that has managed to eliminate me yet.
You'll all kindly forgive my 'french...' but hey...when the terms apply....
Those less than FAITHful...or who do NOT embody the METAL CONTINGENT....lemme help y'all out...see that little 'X' in the red square right at the top, right corner of your screen?? Yup! You got it....THAT one...yeh...now, move the cursor up to that using your mouse...and left-click on that sumbitch just once....something cool will happen...dig it. I recall a very dear friend of mine, Shawn in Canada, that expressed the desire to see the site closed. His thought was that this place had become a big "chatroom" and had lost its appeal as a Priest site. He lamented the daily babble about all things "Un-Priest". He ended up leaving this site. I respected his opinion then, and I respect those today. But I do not agree. This is one of the great beauties of friendship; we need not always agree.I believe many more will come and go. The choice is theirs. (I use e-mail. I have a cell phone, by the way! These are all tools for work more than they are anything else.)
This place is more than just a band's website to me. It is through this site that I have met, face to face, some of the most wonderful and dear friends I have ever known. I have met, electronically, many others. There is just no way that I can place a value on that. I think a certain element among us have forgotten the importance of friendship. Perhaps their lives have become so hectic with the many other responsibilities we face that they are no longer able to remember the joy of seeing a dear friend? Of having someone to talk to when you need them? Of sharing a laugh? Of knowing what friends and being a friend really means?
The day I came here, I met some great people. Some of them are gone now. Some of them are still here. A couple are very close to me. Phil (Metal Meltdown) is as close to a "best friend" as I have had in twenty years. We are very close and that friendship means SO much to me. Without this Board, I would have never met him. I would have never had the opportunity to do the wonderful music we have created! I won't even get into all the other tremendous aspects of happiness that has brought along!
I guess the most important thing I can impart from this post is this; I truly love you all. You really do mean something to me. ALL of you. Whether or not we agree is irrelevant to me. I am grateful for you. I learn from you. Occasionally, I lean on you. You know as much about me as any friends I have ever had. You have been here during some of my most difficult moments. There is a certain theraputic value to that. To be able to tell you things. To share. And all of this has been facilitated by the place we know as Judas Priest.com. | | guidogodoy wrote: | | I'll jump in with and answer, if I may, as it matters a great deal to me if JP is up or down.
Most know me as one very much into tech. I am a programmer, set up computer networks, just finished building three computers in as many days and can (sadly?) tell you how the next quad-core "Nehalem" Intel chip will fare against the nanosecond "future" of computing. That said, I am one of the only people I know who does not own a cellphone! I have NEVER been one for chat even in the beginnings (yeah, I know FORTRAN and can change tubes on the ENIAC! LOL!). Quite frankly, I feel no need nor do I have anything so important to say as to be in contact with someone so constantly.
Email, to me, is a task. A chore. How I deal with people on a day-to-day basis at work. WORK being the key word. They demand a response. IM conversations? To me, they are like cellphones (and chat, for that matter). They are "non-substantive," IMO. Perhaps a laugh or two on the good days but, again, a chore to me.
I may come across as a troglodyte (anyone who knows me knows that I am cutting edge on most everything) or perhaps an anomaly of the traditional tech-nerd. Still, for as much as tech marches on, I appreciate the human contact all the more. Wanna know the saddest thing I saw last Ozzfest? The masses who were there speaking on the phone. I am almost ashamed to have taken so many pictures at the last Priest concert. Probably what led to my injury. First time I got a camera into a show while trying to headbang.
"Don't you email your friends" you ask? IM? IRC? Nope. I might email a friend from time to time but no IM nor IRC. I just don't have the time to be on the same schedule as them. HERE, however, I can be writing at 1am, post pictures, make friends both here at home and ESPECIALLY abroad. Necro sending recipes to us, for example? How would I have found such a thing otherwise?
I cherish the noticeboard for it doesn't "demand" my time. I give it freely and whenever I am able. I very much appreciate the opportunity to have that choice. (Quoting Message by Where AmI from Tuesday, December 02, 2008 12:24:48 AM)

Don't you email your friends and have IM conversations or use IRC? Honestly, there is no reason why you should stop talking to your friends now that you have them. It shouldn't matter that jp.com is up or down.
Where there is an ending, there may be a new begining. A far better, sharper, improved begining. A slick, shiny - and technologically advanced - begining to reflect the changing times.
If for that to happen, jp.com has to be sacrificed, so be it. I'll be the first one to hammer the nails on the cross. I couldn't agree more, HB. I initially came to this site to get to know the fans that meant so much to me at the Priest shows. Not just the casual fans but, rather, the TRUE fanatics. Those special people with whom I had spent a couple of hours of REAL headbanging at the shows. You know who you are...at every show there are quite a number who know every song, every chord, every change. Somehow we always seem to gravitate to one another at the shows. Without this NOTICEBOARD (not just the ability to post messages), such friendships would be lost or, worse, never have happened in the first place.
To illustrate the point, I present this maniac who felt the need to take a picture of ME at the last show. I laughed and snapped one right back. Any of you him? I wanna see how my pic turned out! Thanks to the Noticeboard, I just might! LOL!!!

MY FATHER ALSO PASSED AWAY FROM CANCER OVER 30 YEARS AGO. I STILL GET TEARY EYEY WHEN I THINK OF CERTIAN MEMORIES. TIME HEALS AND YOU LEARN TO DEAL WITH IT BETTER, BUT FACTS ARE FACTS AND HE IS NO LONGER HERE.
LOOK AT THE THREAD FOR SONGS THAT MEAN THE MOST. WE'LL BURN THE SKY BY THE SCORPIONS MAKES ME THINK OF HIM AND I GET A LITTLE CHOKED UP EVERY TIME I HEAR THE SONG.
HOPEFULLY THINGS WILL TURN OUT MUCH BETTER FOR MG'S MOM. I'M SURE THEY WILL.
BUT HEY WE ARE ALL JUDAS PRIEST FANS AND THAT IS WHAT BROUGHT US TOGETHER. BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN WE CAN'T DISCUSS OTHER THINGS WE HAVE IN COMMON AND HELP EACHOTHER.
TO ME THE SITE IS A LOT OF FUN, BUT IF SOMEONE IS GOING THROUGH HARD TIMES, LENDING AND OPEN EAR AND SHOWING A LITTLE RESPECT ISN'T MUCH TO ASK. |

Very true. My father died of cancer back in Sept. 2005. Although I never really made it a public subject, they really helped me deal with the situation. Sometimes it was just the fact that I had some place to act like a fool in the Kmac area or make jokes with old 70's show references ( thanks to those who know who you are ). If you've got things to handle then handle them, but don't feel guilty about living and/or being happy. It took me a while to learn that and much of it was thanks to the people here. Well said, Metallark. We do take care of our own here, I assure you. The comments that cretin made were a deliberate attempt to hurt. It was a disgusting, malicious and vile action that deserves every response we have given it. When Murray reviews it tonight, he will see that. This hideously poor excuse for a human being will get exactly what is coming to him. In the meantime, we as a membership have done exactly what we should. We have stood up and said, "NO"! In all honesty, I didn't take part in the initial 'Black Friday' rush as my wife and eldest daughter opted...they were up at 3:30 that morning and arrived at the Wal-Mart by us just in time for the 4am opening. It was (by all description) very quick and busy...but the most out of hand region of the store seemed to be reserved to the electronics department (thank Christ). Her only M.O. for going there at all was because of the 75%+ off savings that were going on with some of the young miss/adult ladies' clothing....jeans, tops...shit like that. The girls have been needing some new clothing for some time now, and my wife managed to capitalize on the sales quotients...picking up said items for both of our daughters, a quick peruse through toys for some of the younger children in the family, hopped upon a line that was quite small and quickly moving..and got the hell outta there. I later joined my wife to set up the lay-away business we had to take care of at K-Mart...which went surprisingly smooth...but it's some of what I witnessed there, and the things I heard about later that day that really got me to thinking. I just can't excuse or rationalize such Cro-Mag behaviors as I learned about in Valley Stream (and anywhere else this had happened). It was a stark reminder of the madness that took place back when the 'Cabbage Patch Kids,' 'Tickle Me Elmo,' 'iPods,' and other high-demand items that emerged in the last 25 years to better tempt the consumer dollar. I'm sorry....but when something like that deduces the "..most advanced race" of this planet to mindless, careless, heartless frenzies....it behooves the ENTIRETY of those of us left with SOME semblance of decency and respect to set a new example and tell these retailers/manufacturers to take their 'must-have' items and shove 'em clean up their chocolate wizz-ways. Yes...I know how ironic that just sounded....LOL!!!
....it's a lot less harmful than hearing about store employees who won't be able to join their own families for the holidays because they DIED in the name of trying to make OTHER people's holiday "....happy and prosperous." I mean...my God...an older, part-time employee of a Wal-Mart branch in Valley Stream, NY (which is about 40 minutes from where I used to live on Long Island) gets trampled to death just trying to open the feckin' store!!!?? Then I hear about two employees of another store that were shot (whether or not it had anything to do with the shopping rush has yet to be determined at this time)??
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!???
Alright...I know...it's the biggest shopping day that gets the holiday shopping kicked off in earnest. It's a pathetic time economically, and a lotta retailers are trying in vain to compete for whatever spending dollar consumers are willing to shell out...I get it...honestly, I do. But fer Chrissakes...does it REALLY gotta be about life and death?? Must this reduce otherwise rational, sane (I think?) people to regress some 10,000 years in order to obtain one or two coveted items?? I sure hope those who espouse the beliefs of the 'big-bang/evolutionary' theories have re-tooled their thinking as to just how advanced a race we humans have evolved into...because some of what I saw and heard would make me wonder like a sonuvabitch were I of the same order of thinking/belief...lemme tell ya! The only things missing were the overtly hairy bodies, a few mace clubs, and some added grunts and other guttural noises as a means of communicating (and while I think about it, I did see some of that too)!!! Know what gets my goat too?? The fact that once the Valley Stream police got the Wal-Mart evacuated, people had the nerve to complain.....you believe this!?? Then, my wife tells me she overheard that there was a fight in the electronics department in the Wal-Mart by us because someone had the nerve to swipe a TV clean out of the shopping cart right in front of the person who had it in there in the first place!!!
Unreal....I mean that....absolutely UNreal. And people wonder why there are some of this world who have this abject hatred when it comes to holidays. It was truly a wonderful Thanksgiving in spite of the dreadful illness that will soon be passed from the Princess to me. A very small price to pay for the joy of seeing my two, beautiful grandchildren smiling and laughing and asking me a million questions! That, my dear friends, is a joy that I do hope each of you can share someday. And now....silence. Just this computer and the TV. Serenity returns.
This holiday was a gentle reminder of what is really important to me. Family. The love of a daughter that had such a terrible father years ago. The cheer of two adorable grandsons that remind me SO much of me and my brothers. The warmth of an evening by the fire, laughing and remembering that no matter what has happened, there is always redemption. There is love. There is family.
Yesterday, I celebrated something else that is so very important to me. My fourth year of sobriety. To have my daughter here for that milestone was extra special. For you see, she was the one that endured a childhood without a dad. She had to see things a child should never see. And yet, she loves me. We come together on this special day and we are father and daughter. Something we were not, all those years ago. I treasure this time of my life more than anything. Through clear, sober eyes, I see the woman that was once my daughter. I see the mother that was once my daughter. I see the wife that was once my daughter. And now, I can see the man that was not a dad, but has been redeemed, and I am proud. I am thankful.

Well first and foremost I would like to say Hello, and say that I missed talking to you all...

Such kind and generous words from dear, dear friends. I would only hope that I am able to live up to such lofty opinions! Honestly, I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate all of your wonderful comments. They mean so very much to me. This truly is an accomplishment, especially given just how low I was way back then. I do not exaggerate when I tell you I was a true low-life.
The gifts I have received from you all today are very special to me. My very, VERY deepest and most sincere thanks to joe. She knows why. I really think this has been a great holiday. I am SO glad I have all of you with whom to share it! |

Freeze,
You are forever a gentleman & a scholar.
Enjoy the fruits of your labours, as it sounds like you deserve it.
Some fathers are simply content to continue blaming their children for their own offensive actions in the past, and therefore spend many solitary holidays with no daughters around at all... Not that I know anything about that ... !
It takes a brave person to admit mistakes and learn from them, this is what makes it easy for those they have offended to forgive and move on. Until that is done, nothing changes. You were the catalyst that made your present contentment happen.
You should be proud of yourself. I am. (Your daughter and grandchildren are lucky, too...) Busy as usual. Soccer tourney this weekend. 5 games in 2 days. Should be interesting to say the least. As usual, I can't say no to the kids and have "inherited" the assistant coaching job for my son's soccer team. Having a blast ! I'm actually getting into some real kind of shape again and the kids love seeing the old man out there with them. They get pissed at me, but they respect the fact that I can walk the walk. All on track save for the marathon making of the enchiladas which are the final item on the list. So, to all who celebrate, cheers. To all that don't? Have a drink and hug a mexican! LOL!!!! |
